    Mouse Buttons

Who changed their mouse buttons and to what? I got the Logitech MX1000. Right now, the only extra thing I use is the wheel to cycle through weapons.

I have the MX518. I love the DPI change buttons, and kept those. Application switch causes me to say 'sorry'. More useful than you might think. Forward/Back buttons cycle through my weapons.

With the cycling through though, I wish it would automatically use the weapon instead of having to click again to use it.

I have the older version, the MX 700. Same amount of buttons, just no battery indicater. I have my first thumb button (back) as my ventrilo key, the second thumb button is my prone and the button on top below the wheel is crouch. I also use the wheel to change my weapons.

I had that one before, there is one extra button on the MX1000 that you can use with the wheel tha allows you to scroll left and right (not to be confused by pushing down). I think I'm going to change it to make me side-step left or right.

            On my MX1000:

scroll tilt left: main gun (3)
            scroll tilt right:sidearm (2)
            cruise down: grenade/launcher/AT (4)
            cruise up: smoke/C4/ammo bag/medic bag (5)
            middle click: map zoom
large thumb: voice comm with squad
            small thumb: full screen map
            app switch: spawn interface
            mouse scroll: nomal weapon select

Using the tilt for switching between 4 different weapon types makes for some fast ass weapon swithing on the fly :)

Set my thumb to control reload and enter vechicals, ring fingure controls parashoot and f2. Pressing on my wheel pulls 3 out, up pulls knife down pulls normal. Use f for pistol and set a few other keys to set it up like that works pretty good for me.

You can make your mousewheel do that but only for two weapons, mine is set to up=knife and down=pistol, if I press down on my mousewheel button it selects my main rifle and switched gun modes if the weapon has that feature.

[strike]Downside is you loose the ability to zoom in and out of the map with your mousewheel when you're a commander, not a great loss to me.[/strike] I just figured out how to keep this function working and still get the knife/pistol action to work.

When I'm in a vehicle I have it assigned to the 3rd person view looking back at yourself from the front and back, you can spot people sneaking up on you while you're capping much better with those modes.

My side buttons are used to select prone or my hand grenades.

The mousewheel defaults to the next-weapon, previous-weapon menu on the right which is painfully slow and if you’re using it as your main weapon select system chances are you’re getting owned. Some people use the numbers across the top which is also subject to problems of striking the wrong key at the wrong time, forward strafe and try to select you knife.

My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001 is where your primary controls.con file is located, open it up in notepad.

Down towards the bottom you'll find the default mouse wheel assignments:

                ControlMap.addAxisToTriggerMapping c_PINextItem -1 IDFMouse IDAxis_2 0
                ControlMap.addAxisToTriggerMapping -1 c_PIPrevItem IDFMouse IDAxis_2 0

The first one is mousewheel up, second one mousewheel down

Copy the first line show above "ControlMap.addAxisToTriggerMapping c_PINextItem -1 IDFMouse IDAxis_2 0" and paste under the heading at the top of the file labeled ControlMap.create InfantryPlayerInputControlMap as shown below, leave the original line down below the section ControlMap.create defaultPlayerInputControlMap:

                ControlMap.create InfantryPlayerInputControlMap

                paste it under the line:
                ControlMap.addKeyToTriggerMapping c_PIWeaponSelect1 IDFKeyboard IDKey_1 10000 0
                ControlMap.addAxisToTriggerMapping c_PINextItem -1 IDFMouse IDAxis_2 0

now change it to read like so:

                ControlMap.addKeyToTriggerMapping c_PIWeaponSelect1 IDFKeyboard IDKey_1 10000 0
                ControlMap.addAxisToTriggerMapping c_PIWeaponSelect1 -1 IDFMouse IDAxis_2 1

We've now assigned the mousewheel up action to select the knife directly, changing the 0 to a 1 at the end tells the game that this is your secondary key/button assignment. You can do the same thing for the mousewheel down action only assign it to the pistol.

                ControlMap.addKeyToTriggerMapping c_PIWeaponSelect2 IDFKeyboard IDKey_2 10000 0
                ControlMap.addAxisToTriggerMapping -1 c_PIWeaponSelect2 IDFMouse IDAxis_2 1

Happy knifing and pistol sniping, or assign whatever weapon you want to this fast switch method.
great, now I'm going to get pistol whiped and knifed a whole lot more.

Intellimouse 5 button. I used the MS software to bind the buttons i dont usue in windows to useless, ingame keys. Then went ingame and bound them to cool things.

                      Middle Mouse = Pistol
Left side = Weapon function (Semi to Auto,, etc)

                      Thats all I really need.

                        Talus,

How did you get the scroll left and right, and middle thumb buttons to register with the game control menu. I have been able to program all the buttons on my mx but those 3, the control menu doesn't do anything when I try to program them. It doesn't seem to see them or recognize the buttons.
