    Re: Any jet dogfighting tips/tricks?

    Thanks for the input.

1 shot on tank eh? I know if you hit a tank on the bottom, in the backside, you almost always get full damage, or enough to get him to get out of the vehicle, but I've yet to actually see it happen.

As for the jets, can you classify them in order, maybe mark the pros and cons to each? I'm not too familiar with any of them.

I agree, the same goes with my helicopter skills. I can strafe away from a AA missile almost instantly with a transport helicopter, rather than be shot down and give the enemy 4-5kills on us, it's just a matter of practice.

    Thanks again

    PEACE

I'll give you my seat of the pants feel, and then some crap from testing lol. In case you haven't noticed already, the higher you go up in the atmosphere, the faster you go, but the worse you turn.

      Speed (Fighter):
      J10
      F18-JSF
      MiG

      Speed (Bomber):
      SU30
      F15
      SU34

      Turning (Fighter):
      J10
      JSF
      F18
      MiG

      Turning (Bomber):
      SU30
      SU34
      F15

Speed on paper is kind of funny. I did this just for you and sheer humour, some suprising results. I always felt that some maps just did not feel the same and couldn't put my finger on it, and that goes for speed and ceilings, this kind of reaffirms my gut instinct. Not all maps are the same for speed at the same hieghts on different maps. I flew all jets at 300 units in hieght and then after I flew that height for a bit, I recorded the speed and then did the same with the afterburner. I have the jets sorted out by type and what map I hit the speeds on, so you can kind of cross reference and get an idea from there of how they stack up to each other.

First speed listed is cruising half the map at 300 units, second speed is afterburner peak at 300 units for half the sprint bar.

      JSF Oman
      1100
      1430

      JSF Dalian
      1240
      1640

      JSF Zatar
      1100
      1450

      F18 Daqing
      1190
      1450

      F18 Kubra
      1100
      1310

      F15 Daqing
      1170
      1410

      F15 CleanSweep
      1080
      1280

      J10 Daqing
      1220
      1460

      J10 Dalian
      1240
      1490

      SU30 Daqing
      1190
      1450

      SU34 Oman
      1040
      1240

      SU34 CleanSweep
      1050
      1250

      MiG Oman
      1100
      1300

      Mig Kubra
      1130
      1340

      Mig Zatar
      1110
      1330

I still feel that the J10 is faster than the JSF because I can always catch up to the JSF while in the J10 when both of us hit the after burner. I feel that the Mig, JSF and F18 are so close to each other that there isn't too much of an advantage/disadvantage to using any of them against each other. On the other hand, the J10 seems to have a very huge advantage over the other jets, which is why alot of people like to use it. Maybe the J10 really isn't faster than the JSF and it just feels faster because it is alot more agile than the other jets, guess I will have to do a drag race with akaNE and those two jets and find out for a fact.

It seems like everytime I get into a dogfight and lose the person I battled has some smack talk. Then I look at their score at the end and think..wow..u didn't do sh_t to help your team.

Listen to IVfluids. He is a wise man.

Not to mention, one helluva pilot.

As for me, there is no way that I could explain to you how I fly. I just do it. And that comes from spending (wasting?) way to much time in the planes in Desert Combat and now, BF2.

There is one tip that I can share with you though. No matter how good you are (or think you are anyways ), there will always be someone better than you. So don't get too discouraged.

              Have fun! :)

                Re: Any jet dogfighting tips/tricks?

If you seem to be crashing a lot, then you need to fly higher more often, and use more BNZ (boom n zoom) tactics, meaning you dive in for your kills/dogfights, and then you go back up high. This is a great tactic that great pilots regularly employ. More often in '42, but still a top tactic in bf2.
