Re: Love or Hate Commander "Spotted" Messages?

I don’t think you should be able to turn down the commanders voice...since its already not enough with the commander yelling arty your area and the big F*&%ING flashing red arty symbol for some special teammates to avoid making you a TKer....

However I for one like the idea someone said about making it only heard by the soldiers in proximity much like the arty your area message.....

THAT is a supreme idea! Too bad EA won't read it and think the same thing by including it in the next patch! lol

Yes I would also agree that this means you have a good commander that isnt just running around the map and not doing his/her duty...COMMANDING

I'll spot everything outside of the UAV scan to let my team know what's out there. I never have a problem with commanders that do the same. It's great to let my team know where that problem sniper is or if there's an enemy at an undefended base. All that being said, I find being commander to be extremely boring so spotting gives me something to do.

Re: Love or Hate Commander "Spotted" Messages?

When I'm commanding and do a scan, I spot anything and everything that I can. AFAIK, SA is a good thing.

Also, a good exploit to use is that if you know, or even think, OPFORs may be in a general area, as commander you can just click spotted in that area, and if there are indeed OPFORs in the vicinity, it'll register it correctly - else it'll just give the default "enemy forces spotted" with the question mark. You can tell your team ahead of time about this tactic, so they will know to ignore the question marks put by you.

Anyways, #1. Spotting people is good. Localising the audio message would be good though.

This would be good at least as an option either for the commander or the soldier. Sometimes it's also good to know about enemies far away because you may want to spawn in that area next time you die. I generally want to know about vehicles wherever they are.

Voted #1; the more information I get on enemy movements, the better.

I love going command when givien the chance. As far as spotting goes, I'll only spot when there is enemy nearby my team or team members or closing in fast.

It seems to me pointless spotting a red dot when it's located on the other side of the map when it's no near danger.

I love when the commander spots enemey units, makes life easier on the battlefield and helps you plan your attacks. But i do agree that perhaps the sound side needs adjustment, but more so a proximity adjustment... ie: 20m range gets the audio, 50m range gets just the text and beyond that just gets the red dot. Mind you in saying all that, Sometimes i forget to look at the minimap cause im engaged in something full on, so hearing the commander say there is a enemey whatever reminds me to quickly check my minimap, which has saved me from a few guys flanking around and coming in from behind.

Hahaha! This reminds me of one time I copped abuse for spotting units... It went something like this:

Them: "Stop chat spamming and do you job.... COMMANDING!"
Me: "Err... take a look, we have two squads each with two members..."
Them: "Well get them to join squads!"
Me: "That's not my job - it's yours!"

I was really offended, as I thought I was trying to do the best job I could for all those lone wolves out there, and this is the thanks I get!?! I was camped at one flag with my head buries in the map, watching over as many shoulders as I could manage...

Thanks again everyone for your responses, you've made me feel a lot better!

I must say, sometimes it's good to have an overwatch at your side as a commander, he may not get a whole lot of points, but it sure does save the team a LOT of aggravation. Last night I got killed 17 times! Normally when I am commander, I like to find a hidey hole, where arty can't get to me and people can't readily see me unless they look extensively for me. Last night I had such a place, and not only was somebody lookin for me(presumably because I wasn't moving-a dead giveaway that I am the commander) but they sent THREE somebodies after me! Sheesh! Talk about have a case of the a$$!

I do take it as a compliment though, because, the fact that they sent three people to take out one when I wasn't near any of my assets to justify a round trip with multiple targets of opportunity, means I must have been doing a good enough job as commander to **** them off and want me distracted for the rest of the round to ensure that I couldn't cause them any more unneccessary grief. And it was always the same three guys that came to kill me. It didn't matter where I spawned in to find a hidey hole or how protected I was because I picked a place where there were a couple other guys guarding a flag under cover from arty, they always found me and killed me. I tried a lot of tactics, but these guys were too good, and there was absolutely NO teamwork on the part of my team to help me out, they were too busy bitchin about how I wasn't helpin them!

I guess you could say, lesson learned, don't go to a "BlackOps" server and play unless you have a whole TEAM (32 players) who are willing to forego point scrounging just to ruin these guys day! LOL!

Nope...you might wanna play the game some more and watch your score go up by 1 point everytime someone shoots a enemy you spotted

(note: it seems to only work when you are zoomed in)

I definitely get annoyed hearing it over and over. But I wouldn't want them to not spot enemies. I normally only do it when I see my guys in the area to give them a heads up. If I see a squad going to a flag and the uav is already deployed elsewhere, then I do it.
