    Hi Folks!

That's a huge performance boost for the Intel machines. I wonder why it is so much higher for Intel than AMD.

I bumped up to 1.5GB and it made a big difference. All memory slots are full now, so no more upgrades until I get a new mobo.

How did you do it? I tried throwing in a 3rd stick into mine and my system didn't like it.

You need two identical sticks of RAM in the other open two slots for it to work. The poster on top probably has his set up in a (512 MB x 2) + (256 x 2) = 1.5 GB configuration. I have four DDR 400 512 MB sticks taking up all four slots on my mobo for a total of 2 GB.

Yes, Intel machines FLY like crazyness with 2GB, I'm planning on upgrading next paycheck.

My guess would be that the increase with intel is because AMD manages memory on the CPU so right of the bat 1gb on a AMD system may run a little better. So the resulting increase in performance may be less. I could be wrong. I can run the game in High everything on a AMD 64 3200+ with a gb of OCZ el Plat. but they both OCed well. My card is a 6800 Ultra. :) the Cpu is at 2.4 ghz and the have the memory running at pc4000 at 2.5, 3, 3, 9 so I 'm sure getting 2 gb would help my framerate but It runs at about 55 or higher all the time. I don't think I would see much of a differance. Thanks for the link!

He has a AMD XP bro, which is usually 3 slots. THere was a known issue about having a 3rd stick of ram, because of something about only allowing 2x double-sided DDR sticks and 1 single-sided thing...unless he got a rare nForce2 with four slots

I went from 1 to 2 gigs the boost was ok but not wow! since my CPU sucks.

Stuck another gig in my puter about a week after buying BF2, hardly any problems since, well things apart from the things that are'nt my puters fault.

Have'nt ran any benchmarks but I did notice the difference in performance right away, would recommend getting 2gigs into your puter if you can.

BTW Corsair do 1gig sticks for all the guys with only 2 slots on dual channel

                        like me

I recently did the upgrade from 1 gig 2x512 Corsair XMS to the 2 gig (2x1024) set of the same model. I can now play on all high 6xAA at 1280x1024 at about 50FPS before on 1 gig I had to run medium textures, shadows, lighting or else it would stutter badly. Was a great investment overall(but a pricy one to be sure)

If you have 4 slots, put the other 2x512 in there. You'd have 3GB total and I'm sure it wouldn't hurt.
