Upgrade to an AMD? That's like saying someone upgraded from Coke to Pepsi.

No, it would be more like saying you upgraded from a cup of water to 10 gallons of water, because AMD is faster when compared to comparable (price-wise) Intel processors in terms of gaming performance.

How hot a CPU runs doesn't really have any bearing when you have the proper cooling.

The colder a processor is, the faster it can potentially go.

This is actually correct. To elaborate, the faster rpm drives do spin faster, but each cylinder (unit of data, for all intents and purposes) is longer, so the platter has to rotate more in order for the head to read it, and so the average latency is the same as a lower rpm drive. In addition, because each track is longer, you can't fit as much on it, which is why all the high rpm drives have such low capacity.

I wouldn't bother with Dual Core. People PC did a review of 4 chips

Um, the 4000+ is 2.4 ghz, and the 3800+ is 2.0 ghz. I would go for the 4000+, it's better for gaming, the only thing dual core does better is multitasking.

The FX-55 would obviously do better because the games were made for an FX-55. Dual core is an emerging technology, so very few games have taken advantage of the multithreading that they provide, but now that the two leading processor manufacturers both have dual core models, newer games will be built to take advantage of it, and older games will be updated.

I found a deal at newegg I think I can't pass up I asked someone here if they look at the review of the motherboard to see thier tke on it too. I will post the review here too to see if anyone else like to look at it. This is what I have decided on.

Ok guys I have sold my current computer to a buddy and I'm going to to rebuild myself a machine. I woutld like some input on what you think of the items I'm choicing from.

now the big question is video card. The price I'm looking at is $300 and under so I have come up with either the X800XL or the GeForce 6800GT what would you Recommend?

Your gona love that cpu man.!!!!!! I have it with a BFG 7800gtx OC same ram and stuff, ASUS a8n sli delux. But make sure you do a bios update to get the dual core working. Default is just one and i diddnt find out for like a week. NOW SHE FLYS!
