Re: no more bf2
I agree. Although the graphics are very good and the game will certainly appeal to a certain segment of gamers, it won't be the end of BF2. To sci-fi for my tastes anyway...Originally posted by smeggerits too space-age..
whats appealing about bf2 its only set a couple of years from today, so theres no laser cannons and what not.Comment

Re: no more bf2
The original ET was hella-fun. SplashDamage has some great talent when it comes to mapping, so this game will be a definate aquire for me.
As far as replacing BF2, well at the moment just about any game will do that for me, I've been playing solitare more than I have been playing BF2 recently... Heck, I even sat down with the wife last night and played some Rummy with her instead of playing BF2.
BF2 was fun when it first came out, but after playing it for a few weeks, it basically the same game that came out four years ago, with a few extra feature bugs. I think what made it so refreshing was the maps, but now that those are tired and worn out.... nothing more to do.Comment

Re: no more bf2
I think it could be good. On the weapon side of things for the Earth forces at least they are said to be pretty conventional so no lasers or other such Sci/Fi things. An intervew I read said they would use pretty conventional fire arms and vehicles.
Not sure about the Strogg side though as them being Aliens it may be very UT style which is not my thing.
I also imagine this game is going to need a beast of a PC to run. Probably even more than BF2.Comment

Re: no more bf2
Can't see it tempting me away from BF2. Still far too much fun.
And as the other guy said, the more realistic setting holds much more appeal for me. Granted ET will have *some* modernish weapons but I only expect them to jar when placed alongside laser guns. Trying to mix the two to get the best of both worlds won't work.
Besides, by the time ET comes out there will be more maps, more bugs ironed out and generally more improvements. Each to his own.
One good thing is ET is likely to attract a whole load of TK-punishing idiot n00bs, getting them off BF2 servers
