Re: is anyone else tiring of this game?
The only time I truly get bored with this game is if the round in question turns into a game of musical cap-the-flags where everyone simply mobs to the next flag (which is usually undefended), then moves on to the next, while a Blackhawk or other forces simply take back the flag after you leave.
If I try to combat this by actually staying and defending a flag, I usually get wiped out by the opposing team doing exactly the same thing... because I'm all by myself defending. GRRR. BORING.
Why don't people realize this fact: You win the round by HOLDING the most flags the longest, not simply capping them
This game needs more attack/defend in it, and less deathmatch CTF. Use Strike At Karkand for example. This map mostly turns into a deathmatch where even the MEC are trying to charge the USMC base.. Why? MEC are supposed to defend their flags. That being said, the USMC doesnt' even bother to get flags, and instead always takes the charging MEC on at the bottleneck (you know where) and it turns into a point-getting frag fest.
That's what happens every game. Ranks and stats always ruin gameplay, IMO, because people start taking the game too seriously. Hmm, take the ranking/statsme of my CS server, people start playing nice again, and stop with the "look at your score, mine's higher", "Top 10,noob", "you're #345, you suck", etc type statements.
If there was no points or rank in BF2, what would happen? Would people still play in Blackhawks (which is boring as hell)? Would they bother to risk their neck to revive you as a medic? Would people supply you? etc.
So much of this gameplay and supposed 'teamwork' wouldn't even exist without a point system. It's laughable. Players need to be rewarded nowadays to play as a team or they won't. Back in the day (he he) there was no point system in QUake Team Fortress (and later TFC) yet we actually worked as a team.
The modern player has no sense of teamwork. EA plays on this by appealing to the player's greed by supplying points, ranks etc. It's still not [b]true teamwork [b] (the unselfish sacrifice of one's individuality for the benefit of the team), its only a simulation brought upon only by player's desire for useless points and status (I'll help you only because it benefits me to do so)
Ha ha! So true! You can spot the die-hard CS players cause they always start hopping when you shoot at them!
It's the de_dust Syndrome, where there are other maps to play (in CS case, it's thousands), yet everyone wants to play the same map they played for 6 years.
