if you think people who play bf2 are annoying, try playing counter-strike ... thats atleast twice as bad as bf2. Atleast the majority of people who play bf2 are about 15 and over, wheras cs players are ussually about 12 (hence the bad community)

So then folks what makes a game last... obviously playability but then what?

patches, mods, comps, more maps?

I've played Enemy Territory for over 2 years, I played on the pubs where there were six maps (I didn't join a clan) but the attitude was normally pretty good. Nobody punished others without a good reason, and even then they'd probably just let it go. the playability was outstanding, a few patches, no mods I knew of... but it held my attention for years.

So what makes a game last?

Demographics. 93% of American kids have played or own a video game. Only 62% are serious gamers, categorized by attendence at LANs and an average of 10 hours in a day gaming. 3% of the 7% of American kids that have never come in contact with a video game will encounter one after they turn 18 and proceed to the corporate world. 4% of those same kids will never see a video game in their life. We, as gamers, are a valuable thread in the fabric of the gaming industry. It is us upon which the big gaming companies rely to buy their products.

Advertising. I personally have been handed BF2 posters at LANs and cons so the BF2 advertising campaign seems to be doing a great job.

Playability. Yes a game is nothing without a sleek design and a good community. Those are 2 things that BF2 offers and avidly maintains.

Yeah I hate economics too but i have it for 88 minutes so I have to catch something.

you are not tired of game you are tired of players that are playing with you ... one way to change that is to join a clan and get diferent playing expirience ... if you can't find clan form you own!

There's a whole mmorpg feel to this game that could be cut off...all these non-sense 200+hours req are absurd, the rank themselves are so distant of each other than personally i will never get above rank 2, it's just not worth the wait (remake another account). It almost feels like EQ fps

Many of the game's system is flawed in my opinion(which is why i will bore out of it):

-poison barbs placed on every vehicle...totally ridiculous sometimes you move a foot and you die.
-the blackhawk is absurdly armed...and they cap flags far too quickly
-light machineguns are badly designed (you shouldn't be able to turn 360 degrees when you are prone, but then the accuracy should be much better...)
-characters can jump waay too high and too frequently, what's the point
-sniper unlock is a .50? have it do a .50's damage, not a "through-glass upgrade" and accuracy debuff
- Grenade launchers's nade should not blow on contact...
-destroying an enemy armor/flyer (with crew onboard) should give more points...the AT class sucks at scoring because it engages the most dangerous targets in the game, and if they do succeed, get as much score as if they had noob-tubed a medic.
-most maps are so vehicle heavy that it gets boring, too long distances, little room for infantry combat. leads to vehicle whoring
-no ways to have a friend list or favorite server

HAHHA pretty funny man, as it happens i remember seeing you numerous times in the pistol and knife servers posted here. LOSER!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not gonna hide. Yes, i spent several hours in a pistol/knife server. It's fun. I don't stat pad, i just play like i always do. No matter what kit i have, i do the most i can.

Some people were padding in there, i just killed them and moved on.

i dont think that desert combat will ever be beaten for sheer fluidness in gameplay, bf2's just a great big mess at the moment, on them EA UK servers anyway

You just have to find the right servers. What im tired of is people crying not to take the last flag on Mastuur becasue they want points so bad. Noone cares about winning anymore...points! points! points!! And yeah, a pilot and 4 support guys in a BH is a joke. There should be more incentives for winning and less for outright points.

I dont think we will see any true teamwork till everyone reaches the highest rank and people can stop whoring for points, or a good enough mod comes out to play on unranked servers.

Off topic asking about a expansion in this thred but first they claimed october but last I heard it will be november. Most likely to TRY to compete with new games like cod2 and quake 4.

Good going on responding to his post moron. As I had previously said before in this thread, people who are asses in the game are just as much as an ass here on the forums and vice versa. Thank you for proving my point, fool.

But you know, that is not really even the point. The point was that he was making an observation, a personal opinion, and you felt the need to jump in with your comments that:

a. really didn't help him
b. had nothing to do with his initial post at all.
