All the misiles are ****ed, look at the laser guided ones Ive locked onto stuff and im sure it would hit but it went aray and hit another enemy unit, I still got the a kill but it was ****ed.

The missile lock doesn't work, simple as that. Why, when the enemy has already unloaded their flares and is a sitting duck, does a supposedly locked missile fly off in another direction (and then get a TK about 5 seconds later after hitting a teammate you couldn't even see they were that 'close')?

Bad code? I don't know why anymore than the others on this forum. I do, however, know that if you're a decent pilot you can force it to happen. That's all I'm saying.

Yeah, I love nothing more than forciing someone on my tail to teamkill a fully loaded transport chopper.

In fact when i'm a pilot on Operation Clean Sweep i tend to not care about the other airplane and just bomb enemy ground units. However the other airplane would usually try to follow me and take me down but simply by pulling up hard or doing barrel rolls 90% of his missiles would miss. so while he chases me and maybe through the whole game kills me 1-5 times thus end up with 2-10 points i would bomb 30-40 units and get 60+ points.

Another thing about missiles and transport choppers i noticed is that they tend to go through the open doors just like in the vid. When ever i'm in a jet, get a lock and shot them most of them fly through the open doors and hit what ever is behind them. its frustrating. the only way to take any one out in the air is to use your cannons and other dumb projectiles.

but we cant have missiles hitting enemies 100% of the time. that'd be kinda ******** wouldnt ya say?

the only time I killed anyone with MISSiles is in the F-15, both shooting down bombers and using the even MORE inaccurate laser-guided MISSiles...

Actually, I find the laser-guided missiles on the F-15 to be much more reliable than those from a stinger site. Although, there are times where the missile loses its lock in-flight for no apparent reason. Overall, though, the laser-guided missiles are killer -- the best missiles in the game IMO -- you just have to know how to use them.

I never knew TKing someone with a missile said anything about a person's sexual preference. But anyway... no, we can't have missiles hitting 100% of the time, but if you have a lock and the target doesn't deploy flares then a hit should happen a heck of a lot more than it does.

No, but I'd like it if a missile following a jet that is flying straight and level had a better chance of hitting then of striking a friendly...

One thing I picked up from playing a few table top games- There is no such thing as a 'missile' or 'missile launcher,' just 'rockets' and 'rocket launchers.' Otherwise you're just ASKING for misses :>)

Seriously though, the people saying, "they just go for the nearest heat source, be careful where you fire," are either incredibly lucky (in that they somehow have never been the victim of this bug, yes, bug. There is no way that this is "working as intended") or simply have never fired an AA/AtA missile. They turn at *right angles* or better to hit friendly targets that are out of sight and definately not closer than their 'locked on' target.

What is really annoying everyone is that the missiles seem to be more likely to hit a friendly helicopter/jet that an enemy one. It's almost like if the missile flies past its intended target it's 100% certain to hit that nearby friendly.
It is so bad that if they reversed the targetting so that you could only lock on to friendly air units the anti-air systems would probably work a lot better! :laugh:

- I've seen the missiles do complete 360 degree loops in the air, about the diameter of a transport chopper, then turn perpendicular flying off into the distance towards who-knows-what.

- I don't think the friendly air units even get a lock on tone when the missile (no 'miss' part this time!) is heading towards them... I think it's just a no warning insta-death situation. :hmm:

If the guy is flying along in front of you straight and level, why bother with a missile at all??? Use the gun... The missiles are next to useless when fighting decent pilots anyways... I get most of my kills with the guns... And no flares will help you get away from those...

the missiles sucks, indeed...Dice should actually make them laser-guided or radar guided..i think they are more heat seeking and automatic lockin on to the nearest target..and that sucks
