Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
Its a beautiful game, and it is a resource hog. The engine is good for the most part once you think about how many things are going on in the game seamlessly. Those talking about the graphics, i think you need to turn yours up from those low settings :p
****es me off that this pc suffers from stuttering from time to time. In fact i dont notice a performance increase from upgrading from a athlon 64 3000+. Frame rate is good though but not the smoothness
lag is common...anywhere. people get lag while using the internet. streaming media and such. depends on server and local internet connectivity right?
im playing on an inspiron 9300 wit the 6800go nvidia card o/c 361mhz core/733mhz memory and 2gb kingston value ram. settings: 1400x1050 game res
terrain: medium effects:high geometry:med texture:high lighting:med dynamic shadows:low dynamic light:low antialias:x2 texture filtering:medium
initially when i first start the game, for the first few minutes of the map "warming up", it tends to lag loading the map and stuff then it runs smooth from there on out even after the map changes. however if i switch servers it will lag for 2-5 minutes in the beginning again then plays smooth. sometimes i play for 7+ hours straight on the laptop.
there are very minor lag issues during the game(like a microsecond. nothing to cause me to mis-aim, mis-fire.)
-with 40+ players/vehicles within the same 180 degree viewable area cappin on each other (ie. strike at karkand @ the bridge @ mec base.)
-and in helis and jets.
considering maps are up to 64 players with multiple vehicles moving simultaneouly this game runs smooth.
I stand (partially) corrected. The Source engine uses a mix of both client & server as defined in the code. To my knowledge, no collision detection is handled client side in BF2. However I learned last night that creating a vehicle in the Source engine is a bitch compared to the BF2 engine. Also, BF2 maps tend to be large open areas where-as HL2/CS:S maps tend to be more closed-in leaving more to be rendered in BF2 maps.
