My first unlock was the PKM as I enjoy playing support, and I love it... the thing is just vicious. It's great for city maps where a lot of the combat is close range especially. 1 on 1 there's no match usually, at least at close range. Where the PKM is great is when you get a nice little cluster of 3 or 4 enemies in one spot and you just spray the area with lead and watch your kills go up. Whenever I see a group of people gathered up its like finding the free kill buffet :)

The only real issue with it is that you can't often see your kills go down because the fire out of the barrel is so big that it blocks your view :) Against one opponent, use short bursts and maintain control because the PKM is surprisingly accurate for a machine gun (keep in mind though, it is STILL a machine gun). I've picked snipers off who are prone at medium range with this thing, though if I can I still try and get close to ensure the kill. Against a whole group of enemies, just hold down the trigger and watch for the text messages that say you've killed them, stopping briefly to see if anyone else is moving :)

i got the M95 first and i cant hit a guy to save my life, but i can shoot really well with the M24, so i really dont think its me, its the weapon. besides the M95 does the same damage as the M24 anyways, so screw the M95 i say, i should've got the G36C as the first, oh well....

Here's in my opinion how the chain of unlockable weapons should go, from greatest, to worst (This is not comparing which would win against another, just showing which you should unlock before the other):
G36C>PKM>M95>DAO-12>L85A1>Engineer Shotgun.

its all personal preference and how you play the game. if you are the kind of person that rushes into the heat of battle to mow people down, dont get the L85A1. If your the kind of person that makes a squad and camps out, watching over or defending a control point. its a great gun.

I very often shoot people at long range, making the L85A1 a very useful gun/kit combo. but make sure you have a support. as you will go through ammo quite fast.

In my oppinion, the G3 and the Anti Tank shotty are the biggest waste, those will be my last. (except i made the horrible mistake of getting the G3 first)

my first unlock i had no idea what i was doing i picked a gun not thinking that it was for each class (it was a long time ago ok) so when i got my corp unlock a couple of days ago i decided that instead of agonizing over all the various features of each gun, i would simply pick for the class i used the most. so i got the engi's unlock. i like it a lot... really a big improvment. the first unlock i did was for the assault guy, and i almost NEVER used assualt before but after getting the new gun its way better. i never used the gren launcher anyway and the new gun seems to knock people down way way easier... just dont use up all yer ammo....

somewhere it says BF2 sold over a million copies, so why are the only about 750k registered on BFHQ? i thought u had to register to play... or do you only show up in BFHQ if you play a ranked server? so they are saying 250k+ people bought BF2 but NEVER played on a ranked server...ever?

Tottally agreed. Ivé done that quite a few times since i have the unlock, specially in assault to bases and each time i came with no less than 5 kills and in nearly all of them i capped the flags.

I really like the unlock.

I still think i´ll continue using the Spec op kit due to c4 but today two guys took me out with their l85 cause of the fire power.

G36C = 25 damage.

l85a1 = 32 damage.

The spec ops is great once you get used to the site. I've destroyed snipers with it. One thing I've also noticed with it is that it can fire through the metal grating of the cranes all over all the maps. So even if you got a panzy sniper hiding out of site, you can get him through the floor.

The sniper is a fun class I'll go to every so often so long as I'm not on the american side. Is the sniper unlock bolt action the way the M24 is? I freagin hate that. Especially if you get into a sniper war, even with the MEC horrid siting, I can still destroy the holy hell out of M24/25 snipers waisting time cocking and having to re-site.

Hey man glad to see you like your new unlock.

I'm in the same situation, I'm on 24000 points and I can't decide what my next gun will be. I have the DAO-12 and the PKM, in that order, and both are great and were well worth it.

I was all set and going to go with the Jackhammer (eng). But I was having a good time as medic yesterday, medic seems to be the class I never play enough of, but when I do it's great fun. I usually enjoy picking up the L85 off dead medics, a lot of them have it. I love the Ak-101 but I really dislike the M16, and the L85 is on par with the Ak.

The other gun I have been eyeing up is the G3 (assault). I rarely pick this up but this thing feels great when I do and I suspect its a good little gun at medium range. And assault has body armour which I love. The downside is no teamwork option like medic or engineer.

I have both the L8 and the M95. I wish I could take back both picks. Trust me. Stay far away from both. After I used the M95 exclusivly for about a month, I accidentally selected the M24 one round, and I had 23 kills with it!! I have had round after round like that with the M24. It seems like the M95 was just a gun that made me a much better sniper with the M24, and for that, I quess if I had the chance to take back that choice, I wouldn't. But the L8 is very underpowered yet accurate. Its singleshot is great but I keep getting dominated in firefights. For my next unlock, Im goin with the G3 (Spec Ops unlock) because of the great things I have heard about it and the fact that you will be getting points for destroying commander assets after the patch. If you already have the G3, then I would go with the PKM. It strait kills. No question.

did you mean the G36C spec ops unlock?... cuz the G3 is the assault's unlockable weapon..

Here's how I would order the unlocks:

1. DAO - without a doubt the best value unlock
2. G3 - more punch, more accuracy, no noob tube
3. G36C - more accuracy
4. Jackhammer - nice, but I like the pump better
5. M95 - downgrade, apart from the shoot through glass thing
6. L85A1 - downgrade, apart from the nice scope

Not sure where to put the PKM. I just don't play support enough to know. For most of them I think the right choice depends on what class you like playing, but I wouldn't take the sniper or medic unlocks even if you like playing those classes. The stock weapons are better.

I love my L85A1. It's extremely accurate. I remember playing Fushee pass and taking down many snipers who hid on the cliff near the US base while I sat up near the gazeebo on the closest spawn point. It was definately sniping distance, beyond the medium range the L85 is meant for, and it only took my 10 shots, that's a third of a clip, to snipe a sniper with it. After the fight, I just heal and repeat. I don't know why people say its bad. I agree that it is crappy in full auto, but I only use that at very close ranges. Otherwise, I just run around a corner (if being chased) and drop a nade at my feet as I turn. All you need to do is ajust your tactics according to the new gun and you have yourself a very affective sniping/medium distance weapon that can be used somewhat effectively in close quarters. It was my first unlock and I was impressed beyond what I thought it would be. Now, what I really want is the DAO, that thing's a beast!
