Just a DUMB ass question, are all BF2:SF maps night maps ??

I hope not, because I like daylight maps to.

PS : that night vision looks like fuzy, hope the gameplay won't be fuzy

If anyone pays $30 for a simple "expansion pack" which just adds a few gimmic weapons, a new grenade, maps without lights and nvg really needs to find a better use for their cash. EA has already begun to milk the franchise, and BF2 has only been out for a few weeks.

This expansion was directed towards the "action over realism" crowd for sure, as i dont think ive ever heard of any army having soldiers fly around on little ropes from building to building. Tear gas out in the middle of the battlefield? Why? Wouldent it just be useless as people could either move away or it would annoy teammates? Wouldent just a standard smoke grenade be 10x greater for cover/distraction? Seems like that teargas grenade was a tacky add on to charge more cash for the game.

What this expansion will do to those who dont buy it will be harsh. The servers will probably be cut by a significant percentage, as people move their servers to the expansion pack server only to give those who didnt buy it less servers to play a real war game on. Sure BF2 still isnt as realistic as possible (OFP still holds that title), but this expansion is a huge drop in realism.

Coming soon! BF2: XTREME HARDCORE OPERATIONS PACK

People saying, paying an extra ....$ for just some extra weapons and crap, bla bla bla.

Sorry, but if you have bought BF2, then you are doing just the same, BF2 is just the same as BF1942 but with some extra weapons and stuff, and you even paid 50$ for it

No it isnt. Totally new engine with everything redone from scratch. Yes it might be the same stratagy, but thats where the similarities end.

Re: [NEW]BF2:SF - first ingame footage

For the record, that IS a G36K modeled in the video. I think they F'd up the forearm a bit, but it's definitely not intended to be the 'C' variant. As for the rail, All G36s have the modular three-point attachment onto which long rails, short rails, or any of the carry-handle-optic variants can be attached.

The carry-handles come in 1.5x rangefinding scope and iron-sights, 3x rangefinding scope with ironsights, and 3x rangefinding scope with auto-adjusting reddot. I have the last variant myself and love it to death.

By the way, most US forces I know of who utilize the G36K prefer to use the iron-sight/rail so they can mount their own optics. Many people feel the dual-optic carry-handle is too bulky and precludes too much of one's line of sight due to the battery housing and reddot adjustment lever. In short, if this was from a US force in the expansion it makes sense for them not to use the Hendsoldt carry-handles.

EDITED because someone after me thinks a G36K is defined by it's optics. It's not, it's mainly barrel length and (by necessity) forearm and buttstock. As I said, the optics on G36s are all interchangable and many US agencies that employ the K platform use ironsights either by themselves or with a Zeis reddot. To claim otherwise is like saying a CAR-15 isn't a CAR-15 because someone DID put a scope on it.

To me it looks like a whole different game. The objectives are different. The weapons are different. Veihcles won't be used the same. Your getting it all wrong... this wont me special froces running round on a battlefield, it'll be more like squads of special forces exchanging fire at a dock or a warehouse complex...

Does anybody know if BF2:SF has an 'official' development site we could visit?

                    I agree.

This isn't just new maps and weapons.....

This is a whole new style of gameplay overall , and will probably feel like a completely different game.

                    I'm looking forward to it.

If you see the kill messages at the to left, it says [H&K G36K]

Im a big fan of H&K guns especially the G36 series guns.. EA messed up on calling it the G36K... The only thing that would in any way qualify that gun as the K would be the 4 vent holes on the foregrip that basically tell you its a K. Apart from just the foregrip, for some reason, the G36K in game still uses G36C iron sights... No idea why, but the real G36K doesnt have the C rail + iron sights on top of the reciever.. The real K sports a pretty tall "carry handle" with stubby iron sights on top, and a zoom scope thats been built into the lower part of the "carry handle". I also noticed that they indeed added a longer flashhider as the K should have. That is what I would call a frankenG36. A mix between the C and the K versions.. The gun looks awesome a the mix, but why did they have to screw up the name of such a nice gun.

If they made it so you could use the add-on's extra gadgets with the existing maps that would be very cool, I don't think they're going to do that though.

and thats why an expansion pack, which uses the same engine and adds more maps/weapons/vehicles, is half the price of a full game. what do you expect from an expansion?

I didn't get much from that bar a headache and green vision. If its all night maps whats the point in having a game with great graphics and going back to monochrome green screen. Hell I had a green screen when I had an apple 2E.

Also I think its a kick in the guts to even be talking about an expansion when the game is so buggy it should not have been released. We are still waiting for the miracle patch to fix it, who knows when that comes out.

I won't be wasting anymore money on EA games till they get the message that there money grabbing, buggy, rushed games aren't good enough to be released on the public. They need to get them a lot closer to being bug free than they currently do. All the expansion pack will bring is a heap more bugs.

i remember before bf2 came out people were saying the exact same thing about vietnam. about how they "wont be wasting anymore money until vietnam was fixed" or "since vietnam was such a pile they wont be giving ea anymore money" etc. now that everyone has bf2 theyre saying the exact same thing about the expansion.

I was never really intending to buy the expansion and after seeing this vid I know that I definately won't be doing so now.

In fact, after reading through the posts of the mindless fanboys in this thread I think this expansion may infact be one of the greatest things to happen to BF2. It will send all these kinds of people to their own special servers and hopefully forums and give the rest of us some peace. I hope the SF exp is a great success and it makes all the fan boys decide never to play vanilla BF2 again.

Perhaps you people feel the same about those who us will not be buying it? It seems as though you are for how uptight you get about it anyone who states they will not support it. If that is the case then it is truely a win-win situation here.
