For those that are fans of TuneUp 2004

There is now Tuneup 2006 with one or two tweaks to the original software there is a trial version out but only in German for now.

If anyone knows of a link to an English version trial down load I would be grateful if you posted it here.

i used gamexp. now i cant use xbox live but i managed to sort out all the other problems.

nah I have used Tune 2003 and Tuneup 2004. It is a great suite of tools. Registry Cleaners,Disk Cleanup etc.Its far from a lame "tweak program" like Game XP, its a great tool

Yeah I totally agree. I especially like the registry cleaner/defrag option and the startup manager.

there is no english version they are testing it on the german version first. then to come will be english

Hmmm I'm kind of a noob to this so how much memory should I optimize?

Just hit "manual optimisation" what it dose is to clear out unneeded rubbish left in your RAM
It wont harm anything.

RAM is a temp storage space for programs info being transferred from one place to another and needs to be flushed out to revive the RAM's clarity and optimum use there is no manual way of doing this except turning of your PC from windows then powering off from the mains electricity supply at the back of your PC then the same in reverse.
The tune-up tool allows you to do all that from the program without turning off your pc and retrieves space on your RAM for programs like BF2.

So run the "manual optimisation" tool before playing BF2 there are other things like spyware stuff, defrag, etc some of which is in the tune-up tool you should also do before playing to keep your PC running sweet.

I hate to say it but RAM Optimizers are bad... :drevil:

Reality - "RAM Optimizers have no effect, and at worst, they seriously degrade performance. Although gaining more available memory might seem beneficial, it isn't. As RAM Optimizers force the available-memory counter up, they force other processes' data and code out of memory. Say that you're running Word, for example. As the optimizer forces the available-memory counter up, the text of open documents and the program code that was part of Word's working set before the optimization (and was therefore present in physical memory) must be reread from disk as you continue to edit your document. The act of allocating, then freeing a large amount of virtual memory might, as a conceivable side effect, lead to blocks of contiguous available memory. However, because virtual memory masks the layout of physical memory from processes, processes can't directly benefit from having virtual memory backed by contiguous physical memory. As processes execute and undergo working-set trimming and growth, their virtual-memory-to-physical-memory mappings will become fragmented despite the availability of contiguous memory." -
