    Requesting UAV overflight?

    You've got it!

    Requesting supply drop?

    Give me two more seconds.

    Requesting orders?

    Here you go.

Commanders have to work a little harder than the rest, for little reward. It is important to keep aware of the needs of the squads (however misformed they may be...that means you two guys in the BH, one in the buggy and one medic who can't figure out that healing the artillery just isn't going to work) and provide the resources they require to get the job done. If you do this, they'll be less likely to mutiny (or at least the expected mutinies will get fewer votes) and more likely to give you that 2x bonus for winning the day.

Yet, I find that time and time again commanders don't reply in favour or against requests for whatever you need. They're out there doing their own thing, oblivious to the squads. Being a good commander means being a good listener, and not bitching into the microphone, even when your squads are incompetant.

Just another thread reminding commanders to keep aware out there. A simple yes or no makes all the difference for that sniper who's out of ammo and away from others.

    10-4!

And that text input line in the lower left part of the commander screen is there for reason so use it and tell other ppl why you are sending them somewhere or why they are not getting supplies/UAV/etc... This will result in 50% less mutinys and 100% more enjoyable game for everyone :)

And for the squadleaders: if a member of your squad is requesting for something, forward the request to the commander.. Allthough the commander can hear the requests af a squadmember, it's much easier for him to right-click on the yellow request icon (that appears when an SL makes a request) on the map and choose "accept". This way the supply box intended to fix a tank is less likely to drop on the roof of a nearby building.

I still hope that in the future there will be some point rewards to the members of the winnig team, because now there is no need to obey the commander and capture flags if individuals are getting enough points by just lone-wolfing and getting kills

        lol

about topic, look, when I am commander and for example I do a scan, see that there are like 8 enemy's at a point that another squad is trying to take in, and the point where another squad is requesting an UAV but there's only one enemy there, well, the request is dead, the UAV goes somewhere else, you can request something but in some cases your request is more needed at other points, the commander knows this better then you as a squadleader because he has a better overvieuw of the map (can scan map, can zoom in totaly, .... ) don't start to   when you don't get your request

Yeah, i accept orders as soon as i recieve them. Also, a rarely accept arty strikes as usually there are not needed. For arty requests, I always check the area where its being requested first, and if its going to help, then i will accept, but just about every request so far has because there is one tank at a base, but tanks usually survive the strikes, then come back so it's a waste really. I also tell them why i have denied too, so they know.

I'm by no means saying a commander has to agree to all requests. All the time I get request UAV overflight, so I give them one, and there's not a single thing there. That's a waste for everybody. I'm just saying a commander should respond, either in positive or negative, to inform the player that the message was received.

You're absolutely right. But I didn't want to have to read about another unlock suggestion or tank whore.

Sometimes, if a UAV isn't desperately needed elsewhere, I put down a UAV over a flag that is full of teammates but no enemies. That convinces them they can relax and consider the flag secure, and move elsewhere. Not often, but sometimes it's necessary if people don't check chat.

and if a flag is empty, with an UAV the people will go there more secure (if there is no enemies there)

                sorry for my english :S

I blame this issue entirely on EA's crappy-ass manual... They didn't bother to tell people how to work commander mode.... I've had people at the rank of lance corporal choose to be commander then ask me why this little yellow parachute thing kept popping up on his screen.... Some people aren't quite so good at just figuring things out as the rest of us... I think this is why you find so many lousy commanders... Some idiots just don't know any better...

You know what would help is if there was a "grant last request" button for the commander so he could just hit "y" or whatever without having to open the commander window and look for the icon and right click, etc...

i had to learn how to command the hard way..and i'm sure its been mentioned a hundred times already but people, if you're going to command, command...don't be the person running next to me to get the first flag...don't fly, don't get in a tank...spawn as an engineer and command from the team base lying in a prone position preferebly inside a building...

A good commander doesn't have to sit at the uncapturable base twiddling his/her thumbs until a UAV or Artillery strike is ready. I tried playing that way yesterday and found it to be very unsuccessful. You can grab flags and hunt the enemy as much as anybody else, but you need to do it simultaneously with the commanding requirements. Tanks and choppers, etc. don't work as well as a commander...that requires a level of attention that will keep you from your commanding duties.

Shame there is no idiot test to be a commander. Until then we need to spread the word to commanders everywhere.. :)
