    Re: Requesting UAV overflight?

The thing i hate about being commander, is the fact that almost nobody ever request supplies or anything else, its really weird. And whenever i right click on an enemy to spot him, my teammates ignore it.

50% of the people never bother to look at their map when someone says "enemy * spotted".

Also, a good commander assigns a squad to defend, lay mines, blow stuff up. I have NEVER EVER as SL had a commander order me to do anything else then take a new flag.

Most commanders seem to only care about using artillery (not all but more then 50% for sure) In my experience a lot of the time the UAV goes up is so he can use the artillery easier then just scanning (or as well)

I had a great game once where the commander used the artillery to STOP advancing tanks and armour, not trying to get easy kills, for example hitting bridges before they crossed it ,to hold them back on the other side He only had about 6 or 7 kills at the end but the Orders, UAV, and Supplys were non-stop

Thats the spirit, i only use artillery if an enemy is trying to cap a flag, or to stop advancing troops.

The biggest complaint i have at the minute against commmander, as a squad leader, is that they have no regard for distance. It may look as though my squad can run to point x from point A to over the other side of the entire map in 10 seconds whilst ignoring B which is being overun - but it aint gonna happen - because i need my men interested and active or else theyll basically just do their own thing. Im in the mindset that although the commander can 'see' whats going on - he just cant .....'see' whats goin on if you get my drift.
So, basically commanders, have a little more'situational awareness' about you and stop ordering us to the other side of the map when there flags to defend nearer home. please.

Mind you, back on topic, once i do have a decent cohesive squad i find that 'most' commanders are more than willing to grant me Arty, supply and UAV overflights if they arent in use.

You can grab flags and hunt the enemy as much as anybody else, but you need to do it simultaneously with the commanding requirements. Tanks and choppers, etc. don't work as well as a commander...that requires a level of attention that will keep you from your commanding duties.
in real life have you seen a commanding officer fight? believe me if your doing your job correctly your not sitting there twiddling your thumbs...

                      Re: Requesting UAV overflight?

If I go commander then I totally focus on the job at hand, always trying to send squads to key points of the map, using my UAV well, targetting arty strikes just on the enemy with as little risk as possible not hitting friendlies.
Like kukov wrongfully pointed out, a good commander DOESN'T sit around twiddling his/her thumbs, they're keeping track of every battle and helping out their team as much as they possibly can.

Just wondering, how can you tell squads, etc that 'UAVs/Artillery are available if needed'. I've only heard it once but I found it useful, anyone know?
