Humvee's with mounted TOW launchers do exist:

And BlackHawks do exist with Rocket Launchers and Hellfire missles mounted to external pods. DC also had a Blackhawk version like this:

I sure hope they make the getting in and out of vehicles more realistic, not just magically popping in the car. Alos i hope they make the explosions more than smoke and dust that lasts for 2 seconds.

I've always wondered why they didn't start working on real animations to enter and exit vehicles. Also it would be nice to make doors open and close. Rainbow six did this years ago so i don't know why they don't let you open and close doors now.

I guess now I know they really do exist. however, I stand by my original point-it's better that they don't have them in-game. People already whine 24/7 about blackhawks, can you imagine what it'd be like if it had Hellfire missiles as well? :hmm:
I'm speaking in terms of overall balance, though-I can't deny that I'd like to have a rocket-launching BH or a TOW hummer.

Guess you never played DC...... I don't think the rocket equiped BH's get MINIGuns.

Re: Will BF2 ever be patched to be what it should have been?

Well they say it is a all new game engine but i dont buy it. I think its a modified BFV engine myself. The textures really are crap when you look at them real good. The US antitank rocket in first person is a good example of some cheesy graphics. Look at that terrible looking scope, it doesnt even reflect like the sniper rifle scopes and its all pixelated. I just cant believethat this games requirements are so high cause Halflife 2 is easily just as nice if not better yet it will run on ancient direct X 7 hardware and looks better than BF2. I am running a Athlon 64 3500+ OCed to 2.6ghz and a 7800 gtx and i still cant run it totally maxed out at 1280x960. You need 1.5gb of ram to run textures on high which is crazy cause the textures in this game suck ***. I think they added some nice lighting effects and a few other new things but im convinced it is in fact the BFV engine. They made a comment before the game came out too that made me think this. They said they had "fixed" the disappearing grass from BFV, ya know when you are trying to snipe hiding in the grass but it disappears at range. I woudl think if it was a new game they wouldnt have fix anything, just make it how they wanted to from scratch, but maybe im reading it wrong. I thought BFV was a good game and had decent graphics but i strongly feel that BF2 is using a modified refractor 2 engine that BFV used. My friend said that it feels just like BFV the first day it came out and he hated BFV. I dunno what do you think?

Yes, half-life2 does look just as good, but i have never seen tanks/air/ect flying around such huge maps at the same time with 64 players..

Re: Will BF2 ever be patched to be what it should have been?

To answer you question why this stuff wasn't added. That is the most simple question to answer.
NO they will not add these features to this version of Battlefield 2. You will have to wait until the expansions are released, Not just one I mind you, EA will drag this out like they did with the Sims. Just to get the stuff you really want, Like with the new expansion due in November USMC gets the Longbow Apache.(Which should have been in the first release, along with a million other things) So you will have to buy 10 Expansions for every cool add on you want, maps, new skins, and vehicles.
EA is not stupid, they see a $$$ pit in front of there eyes, and they will continue to take your money in anyway they can, and drag this out for years.
EA/Dice are in business like it or not, They do not owe you nothing, you already bought the game. Yea they will fix to 1.03 but that's it, then the new expansion is out and they will only support that.

Have you noticed why the Full BF2 editor hasn't been released, Hello, they will release that after the New Expansion in Nov. EA/Dice will not get out showed with these mods, Like Trauma Studios did with DC, Then Dice bought them out and closed down the NYC office. lol Saw that coming.
Its all about money they are a business, that's all they care about is the bottom line, Not you, Not the consumer. But we all still buy these games hoping for maybe a change. We all know that will never happen, the only way you as a consumer can really protest a product is NOT to buy it.
I like BF2 and think its a good game, I also feel that the game needs alot of bugs fixed. But if you really want all the cool features and add ons we will have to wait for the mods. Which there is a lot of them that look sweet and I know I will need about 5 good servers to host all the great ones. lol

You guys can defend EA all you want, with your checkbooks out waiting to pre-order the expansion pack. But it's still false advertising, and bad business.

They need to add minor realistic features to this game like weak points on vehicles such as the gas covers when a fully loaded black hawk flies by no matter how many Eryx missles i shoot the thing never seems to falter same with the Big tanks i mean shouldnt they put a weak spot on the vehicles so we dont just shoot wildly at them 3-5 times with rockets and nades

They should either add weak spots or power up the A-T missles because its called ANTI-TANK for a reason

Binoculars are a good idea because i cant see snipers or far away troops usually, they should also enable a double zoom in/scope for snipers like CS had

Destructive environment would make EVERYONE happy because i dont feel so satisfied as a Spec. Ops blowing up bridges,

More destructable stuff= More strategizing and trapping= more fun

Re: Will BF2 ever be patched to be what it should have been?

They cant do more destructable objects, They can only do so many things, your video, CPU and ram can only display so many active objects at a time. The rest are decals to make up for it.

This I hope Battlefield 2 will support, Games that will be able to have 30-40,000 active objects on screen at one time. Everything destructable even body parts lol. This is due out around christmas, they hope. This will change gaming forever!!

I feel they should give the players a choice, for realistic and arcade. Like most driving sims out there, give you the choice. But as I said before this wont happen, People put to much faith in EA/Dice. So get the check book out and pre-order the expansion. I for one wont be buying it. Then the community will be split again, people using expansion and people that are not. We the gamer should decide were this game goes in the future not EA/Dice.

Theres a new HL2 mod being worked on, http://www.insurgencymod.net/ which looks REALLY good. The HL2 engine also has true physics compared to BF2 thanks to it using HAVOK. It will be intresting to see how the HL2 engine handles vehicles in that mod and if it can do it decently, it might be a serious
contender to BF2. EA apparently has a problem with using real physics in their games. They say BF2 has physics and im like where? A couple of destroyable barrels and the player models? Big deal, most of the static objects in game are indestructible. I rememember watching the tech demos for Medal of Honor:Pacific Assualt and it appeared it had some new awesome physics and they were bragging about what it could do. Then the game came out and it has some lame wanna be crap like BF2 does, NOTHING like the demo showed. After people asked were the physics were and why none in online play they replied that it was impossible to have physics in a online game cause it would make the game too laggy. Well funny thing, right after they said that Counter Strike:Source came out!! So to me that shows that EA doesnt care or want to do anything new, they want to keep reselling the same old crap with very minor tweaks. If they had made a new engine as they say, they could have easily put in physics and a buncha other cool effects but as i said, i think this game runs on the BFV engine. Classic case of minimizing their invest and increasing their profit.

There are weak points on vehicles! You can take a tank out with just TWO anti-tank missiles, for example. (people claim a one-shot kill exists, but I've yet to see any proof.) Two shots in the treads (not the wheels, the treads) or in the rear armour will kill it.

BH is probably being repaired by engineers?
