how many of you get mad when...?

the commander is up at the front lines with you?

when i play city maps i like tp be up there, shooting and stabbing them up...but i still drop supplies when needed, and uav when needed or requested, even if it has to mean me dieng to do it, i end up getting 40-50 points before round ends, they always try to boot me at the last few mins cuz they wanna take commander spot to get more points, but they never vote me off

I hate it when the commander is fighting on on the front lines. The commander needs to be at an empty base monitoring all squads actions and coordinating squad attacks and defenses. It always pisses me off to see the commander running around in a tank or support and not doing his/her job.

I tk a commander on purpose if I see them in a plane or a heli.. Unless he is somehow doing a good job commanding while flying, which is VERY rare. Well it's pretty rare you get a good commander anyway.. Trust no one but yourself.

It's hard for the commander to not get involved in direct fighting at some stage of a game, but I agree that they should be hiding somewhere around or near their base assets rather than at the front. They should be there to help defend the main base if the flag is capturable if the need arises as it often does.

I usually go engineer whilst playing commander, drop mines around the main base immediate flag area to stop enemy vehicles driving right up to cap the flag and then go hide until I need to repair an asset or to ping a Spec ops. from trying to take them out. The rest of the time is spent commanding.

I'm afraid to be commander again..:|: Not really

But, man, this one time, I asked for someone to reapir the artillery. (I was a spec ops) What I got was "learn to be commander you idiot" from countless people. I usually play engineer when I'm commander, but I noticed we didn't have one during the game, and became one, still a spec ops. I didn't feel like suiciding.

I don't need you to tell me how to be commander, because I am the commander, and you will obey me.

            :)

Well it's pretty rare to get squad leaders to do as they're ordered too, when and if the players actually form squads to begin with. It's a team game...not a Rambo flag capping expedition which most lone wolves try to do.

The other day on "Strike At Karkand", commander right in the front with everyone else. Then cries on the mic "I need a medic, someone please..medic me". I look on the map to see where he was, that maybe someone who is a medic nearby could help. I find the star in a bad area. Wondering to myself.."WTH?!?! is he doing there?"

We won eventually, without much of commanders help. Everyone did their own in squads.

That's the reason why pub games will forever suck unless you go in there with about 6 of your clanmates on voice.

On the subject of annoying dumbasses.. I absolutely HATE HATE HATE when honourless idiots refuse to get out your attack helo when you have your own clanmate who you have been gaming with for 3 years, and are on ventrilo with right now. Where in their hollow braindead skull do they think that they are going to benefit their team by stealing a copilot seat when I have a buddy sitting next to me who can help the team? (Yes I know that saying "That helo is mine!!" is lame, but when all you want is to fly with your copilot, it's different.

Anyway, when this happens (and it's often) I'll spam bail out 5 times and if they don't get out within 30 seconds, then it's the old fly into the water to get it into their thick heads technique.

Maybe that belonged in another topic, but whatever.

The commander should be tucked away, hiding and constantly commanding. Not up there on the front lines or flying a plane. You cannot command properly by doing that. You should be constanly watching the commander screen, dropping supplies, spotting the enemy providing UAV support as soon as it becomes available etc etc. Even repairing your assests as an engie is a waste of time. Drop a supply crate next to them to repair them.

On our ranked server if we see a commander flying a jet, they either get asked to resign or command properly if they don't they get kicked. He's only doing that because they think they will get 2x their score but it = a kick on our server.

Pub servers can be okay only if they are admined properly which ours is. Trouble is 99% are not admined ever.

Repairing the assets isn't a waste of time if you're parked near them. I think the team can survive without me for a second

What do you mean parked near them. I am hoping you are not in a vehicle as a commander and wasting that asset which you team could be using. Thats another thing that annoys me about commanders who sit in a tank etc and command and then that tank can't be used by your team. Go and find somewhere to hide don't waste your teams assets.

In my view anytime you are not in your commander screen then you are not helping command your team. Fixing commander assets by yourself as an engie is a waste of time and it takes more than 1 sec.

Not literally "parked," just "stationed." Hidden, mind you.

And if you're waiting for supplies or something to reload, that would be a good time to repair the assets.
