I personally think that with practise, you can shoot and kill targets at long distance with the m25 quite easily. You just have to be patient and of course accurate. What should be changed, if it can in a future patch is the point scoring sytem for kills at extreme distance, perhaps 5 points? What do you think yourselves? I know having picked up a Barrett from somebodies left kit that its my next unlock!
Hmm, extra points for long range shots? I like it. As for the Barrett, it really isn't any different from the M24 besides being able to shoot through bullet-proof glass.
I don't snipe that often but I did unlock the m95 for some reason...anyways... If i'm US and i'm going after enemy snipers the m24 is my load out...if I'm just general sniping I'll go with the m95.
If I'm med or chinese I'll use the m95 as i'm not a fan of the their default sniper weapon though on a few occasions it can be usefull (lots of damage assists).
Extra points for long range shots would be cool but more like 3 not 5. And im not sure how long you have been a sniper in Bf2 but coming from someone who plays sniper every round I would have to say save the unlock for something better. I unlocked the Barrett because I could destroy targets with m24, SVD, and type 88 but round after round with the m95 my scores were about 1/5 of what I normally got. I thought it was a bad week of shooting, but sure enough I switch back to SVD and bam im killing people on the run with one shot left and right again. To me the m95 just feels like the clunkiest piece of shit, and the ability to penetrate bullet proof glass is useless.
You can't long range sniper with a sniper rifle because they are so pathetic. It takes about 4 shots to hit the person in the first place and then they just move, its completly pointless as the snipers are so crap they are only good for mid range shooting.
I disagree with Psycho's statement. I can hit targets at 300 meters and out and drop them with one shot, moving or not. There's a little bit of skill involved with hitting a moving target at that range but not impossible. One thing that has helped me hit more targets is this, if you set your anti-aliasing setting to high it will make the outlines of objects smoother thus allowing you to scope your target better at long ranges. This is harder of your graphics card of course but the result is more kills with the sniper weapon. At 200 meters and out, if you place your crosshairs just above the target's helmut you will drop them immediately. As far as moving targets go at that range, it's a little more tricky but basically the same concept. You have to lead them first, then just as the helmut is passing your crosshair pull the trigger, they will drop like a sack of potatoes. Kill areas for snipers to aim for are: back of neck, face, top of helmut (long range), lower back and slightly just above waist area. For heavily populated areas from an elevated position stay prone, fire your shot, back away for 10 seconds out of their line of sight, then reappear. People of a tendency of looking up towards snipers, when they do they will not see anything, therefore not know where your at...Most will not just sit there for 10 seconds and wait for you to prarie dog your head back out for another shot, unless of course their playing a sniper kit to. The only person on the enemy's team that will know where your at is their commander...So a good rule of thumb is to get your kill, 1 or 2 in the same spot and move.
The reason you aim high at longer ranges is this. When at 200 meters and out, the bullet will decend...at 200 meters aiming ever so slightly just above the top of the helmut would basically put the round somewhere mid-line of the skull and with a M95 penatrating the kevlar helmuts are not a problem.

a headshot is a 1 shot kill no matter what sniper rifle you use...
also, points for kills should be raised across the board. it just takes way too long to get anywhere after lance corp.
ahahah sorry man but you have to be kidding me......5 points for a sniper kill would be completely outrageous, even worse than any sort of "whoring" by "stupid noobs" that is going on now....

I have not observed any bullet drop.
There is a small deviation, that may push the bullet down, but just as likely in any other direction. The deviation is greater in some weapons than others. In this regard, the M24 has the smallest deviation. The M95 is hard to hith with at distances greater than 100M, and near impossible over 250m or so.
Depending on my perch, I will choose the weapon that is suitable.

I don't have a problem with it, but it needs to be a shot that takes skill.
For example, when I used to play BHD, a headshot on a moving target at large distances would yield large amounts of points.
I think something similar would be fine, but with the same criteria. So an 800m headshot on a running target would yield more points. But no bonus unless it is a more difficult shot.
