How long do mines, c4, claymore, etc last?

I noticed that there is a time limit on the mines, c4, and claymore,
does anyone know what it is?
I also noticed that if you lay more than five down the others start disappearing.
What is the maximum limit of explosives, and hows does it affect the time of the old ones that are laid down?

    Thanks

Not sure on time - but 5 does seem to be the limit - same with ammo and health packs.

I also saw in a video on here where someone loaded a heli with c4 - but was shot before he could set them off. He then respawned and was still able to set off the c4 - can anyone prove this is right?

I have not had the chance to try in game - but can you lay out c4 - get killed, respawn and still set off that same c4? I guess the same would be true with landmines.

I would think when you died - your stuff you threw out - ammo, health, mines, c4 - would all 'die' with you...but logically that does not make sense.

    Anyone know for sure?

not really sure but if someone rammed the helo c4 would detonate and give you the kills...had this happened to me twice when I was placing c4 on tanks and killed before detonating, and when I respanwed I saw C4 killed messages but I didnt press the button.....

        almost always dies with you
but on accasion, when I spawn near my stuff
it is still there and usable
eg c4 home flag for defense

I Know for a fact that the time limit on mines is unaffected,at least noticably, by death, because I monitored them after i died.

With mines I have noticed that if your engineer lays all his mines and dies he can plant more when he respawns. Now his old mines will still be there along with the new ones he has laid.

Now if the engineer lays all his mines and gets a resupply of ammo then lays more mines, the previous mines will dissapear therefore leaving gaps in your defense.

As for time I think 4-5 mins is average time before they dissapear.

Now I will give you a tip as engineer for maps like karkand. At the start run and place all your mines in a good spot, find a new kit from a dead soldier grab it and go get some kills and die really soon. Respawn and lay more mines in another good area and repeat. One engineer can cover up to 3 good funnel spots with mines. The mines will stay there becuase you died and did not resupply with ammo.

You have to pick up your kit as the mines/c4/clay's are bound to a kit not hte person as such. So if you lay mines then pick up someone elses kit after a while the mines will dissapear. Mines seem to have a fairly long (5mins or so) deteration period compared to the 1min or so dissapearance of clays and c4.

I'm pretty sure that if you respawn after placing mines, and place new mines, they will not immediately disappear, but they will disappear much faster(perhaps 30 seconds to a minute) than the supposed 5 minutes time limit. I think 5 minutes is pretty close, but does anyone know the exact time limit

the c4 theory is correct! i tried it out you can pick up your kit after you die and detonate C4!!! lol this has saved my life so many times because i pick up my buddies kits after they die and blow up the C4 when a tank comes rolling in! it's awesome too. You get credit for the kill and the other person who planted it gets a kill assist.....i guess thats makes sense though since he planted it

Yes, it never seems to be long enough, especially
the claymores. You can place one to protect your bum, get a few kills, knowing that your safe from close up approaches from behind and then get knifed. An on screen timer displaying the arming time remaining on your last placed mine would be great, especially for engineers and snipers.

yes, I noticed that too, about 30sec. Sometimes, the warning sign dissapears before the mine is gone, which may easily bring you a tk punishment.

lol too bad the c4 wont stay after a resupply and you then throw more down! Nuke the whole map with C4 lol!

c4 and mines last until you die or throw more than 5. when you die they disappear a few seconds later
