What stops you placing c4 mines at bases?

Ok Im still kind of new so don't flame too much:

As special forces, what stops you just laying down a few c4's, then leaving? it would automatically kill everyone there and protect the base and you don't even have to be anywhere near it. As soon as you see the base has been nuetralised you could just detonate it.

Like strike at karkand, the MEC base closest to the US one you can just lay a few c4's there and no-one could take it.. well at least not without suffering from several casualties

So what stops people doing this?

Nothing stops them from doing it.

In fact it's a rare game where I don't get killed from C4 in exactly this way.

If your aim is good, you can jump and get the C4 to stick to the top of the flag pole so when that BH drops down to cap the flag........boom :)

you can do that. you just have to stay alive long enough to be able to do it. plus you can't use any other c4 until you detonate the c4 that you left at the base.

i wish there was a way you could set which c4 blows up instead of all of it at once.

Well It certainly could work, although there is kind of a few inconveniences with it. Your C4 expires when you die, so if you plant some and leave it doesn't last very long if you die somewhere else.

Also what happens if you need to use C4 on an enemy vehicle or something while your packs are still out? You either A) Have to check your map to make sure no friendlies are around the point you placed it, wasting precious time; or even worse B) Completely forget about it and blow up several of your own teammates for massive point losses.

This has actually happened against me on a few occasions, like me and my squad will go into an enemy base and kill 2-3 guys there and approach the flag, only to notice that the ground is peppered with packs of C4. Im left to wonder if the guy who placed it is someone that we killed(thus making them safe), or if theres someone hiding nearby waiting to detonate it. I guess right about half the time, and for the other half some lucky spec ops gets a nice couple free kills :P.

When we see C4s around the flag we are trying to cap, the medic stays outside the c4 (and capture) range. If it blows up, he revives everyone. Works with at least 4 men squads, working together.

Like yea, that would be preety cool, should be an unlockable Wynterheart. Each C4 has it's own number AKA lets say 5-8. Would actually work out =S. Hear that EA?

It is often quite easy to notice as well. More often than not if I get to a point that is guarded by C4 then I'll notice and capture the point from the greatest distance I can. As soon as the flag goes neutral I'll run to a safeish distance and return after they've exploded (which I'll have time to do as the Spec. Ops has to recieve notice of a lost flag, check the radar to see if it's the one the C4 is at and then switch to the detonator).

But what if the SpecOps guy has a supply guy running around with him or gets resupplied in some other way? No, in this game of infinite ammo, there wouldn't be a feasible way to implement that.

Edit: By that, I mean not without fundamentally changing basic game design, like, for instance, allowing the SpecOps guy to mark numbered detonation zones or some such. And something like that won't happen in a patch.

Max 5 packs in the ground at any given time.

I stand by my edit. :p It won't happen in a patch. In the upcoming expansion pack, sure, maybe, but not in a patch.

Its a waste of time the 80% of the times unless you are dedicated the whole round to defend a flag.

If you die the c4 bags go away with your kit and if you are going along the map its no real benefit in the majority of occassions.

Here's a posible solution to the selective C4 detonator:

Place #1-5 on each of the actual C4's. Then when you click to destroy the C4 it will default to blowing the ALL up or you can select which one to blow or cancel.

If you have less than 5 C4's out then the numbers will be greyed out. What do you think?

If you die and your kit bag is still there, you can grab it and still detonate the C4 from your previous incarnation. In fact, so can the enemy I think.

This is one of the most satisfying things to do as a Spec Ops. As soon as you hear that one of the flags has been taken, check the map. If it's the right one, click the button, and silently register some kills from the other side of the map. :) This is actually a tactic best used as a commander, since you're more likely to stay alive and are observing the map more carefully. In fact, as commander, you can prevent neutralization if you see them on a scan.

Most commanders would probably just use artillery. A good commander will save his artillery rather than spam it whenever its available.

I'm not sure its a good idea that the commander go around placing C4 at flags. At the flag he's near, yes, but other flags, I don't think so. I think it would almost be as bad as a commander driving a jet!!!

I use this tactic often. I'll rig a flag with C4 in various hiding spots where it slides into other objects (my little trade secret), get resupplied, and then run off with my carbine and hunt infantry. Sure, I can't take out any armor until I blow the C4 at the flag but that's okay - I just avoid armor.

When the flag goes white I count to 3 (to rope in the capture assist people) and then blow it.

The method allows me to defend a flag in one area of a map and go manhunt in another.
