DAO. Pump shotguns are better than the DAO and the Jackhammer, incidentally.

I like the Jackhammer better though the differance between the two is slight. the DAO's long reload time kills . But as far as the kits go, AT is so much more enhanced by the DAO then the jackhammer is for the Engineers kit. I would chose the DAO over Jackhammer because you do not use the engineers kit for its weapons, you use it to drive Tanks and APCs.

DAO-12 was my first unlock, Jackhammer will be my 3rd, and I'm happy with the way thats turned out.
DAO-12 is amazing for the Anti-tank kit, expecially if you get good with the pistol. Then you have IMO the best shotgun for close range, pistol for medium range, and anti-tank rocket for long range, and body armour for survivabilty. You can take on all-comers, it's a very hard as nails kit.

The shotguns are both fairly even, but the body armour and rockets tips it towards the anti-tank being my favourite kit.

Based on the weapons themselves, it comes down to personal preference.

The DAO has more shells per magazine and less recoil.

The Jackhammer has more powerful shells, but less of them, and more recoil.

The deciding factor is, "What class do you play as?" I play almost exclusively engineer, so the Jackhammer was my first unlock. Once I hit corporal, I will probably get the DAO because it is such a huge upgrade from the SMGs. Halfpast_Yellow put it best, the anti-tank gains more from switching to its unlockable than the engineer. So unless you are a dedicated engineer, go for the DAO-12.

i allways play as angineer aswell and the jackhammer was also my 1st unlock.
the prob is that the jackhammer is still worse than the american and chinese shotguns , so i only use it to substitute the mec shotgun, but for what i've seen the DAO is very good but it spreads bullets like a fountain :P

the best thing for me would be the nr. 4 rifle instead of the shotguns :P but thats just a dream heheh

never go Jack a Hammer, its not pleasant, so i'd say go DAO-12!!

Meh, I hate the jackhammer and the selga12k...the jackhammer fires to quick and you waist the mag, where the DAO is like the selga12k, just you can kill someone and not needa waste the 2-3 shells lefts to reload...

The DAO was a big disappointment for me. I chose it as my Corp unlock, and I wish I could take it back. It does jack shit as far as damage goes; I was expecting it to have the damage of the engi shotties, guess that was my mistake... I emptied 7 rounds into a guys face at point blank range, just to have him unleash hell from his AK and waste me.

I got the g36 and imnot toatally impressed. weaker than I thought it would be but fairly accurate though.
