    3. Reboot
    4. then i go the link http://us.creative.com/support/downl...ame=Windows+XP

Uhhh..anyone else's game not start after updating to these drivers? I open Battlefield2 and it displays the splash screen for a second and then it closes and then nothing else happens. I have an Audigy 2 ZS and I just tried updating these drivers manually following the recommendations here. I am going to revert back to the old drivers unless anyone can figure out why it wouldn't run. Just a heads up to anyone attempting this.

1st: I installed and it crashed to desktop after splash screen 1.02 and demo as well.
2nd: Reinstalled the driver and it keeps crash to desktop after that i have changed the openal driver which is orginal in BF2 (i had modified it as described in EA froum)
3rd: Problem solved but i cannot select X-fi and ultra high settings.
4th: I have modified audio.con file to select ultra high and X-fi setting as described in this forum.
5th: Sound is very bad i have returned my settings to Hardware and High.
6th: Overall Gain High sound Quality and %15-20 FPS increase.

This drivers does not make your sound card X-fi it only allows you X-fi drivers with your card my card still seems Audigy2ZS under device manager but with X-fi drivers.

Does anybody know if similar OpenAL support to the April betas is included in these drivers?

I may have answered my own question...

I loaded up Doom 3 and the v1.3 patch which gives EAX Advanced HD only with OpenAL supporting drivers. The readme states that the April 05 OpenAL betas are required.

I just installed the new X-Fi drivers, and sure enough...Doom 3 still works in full EAX Advanced HD mode.

Also, if you look through the X-Fi archive directories, you'll see the OpenAL installer. I ran it too, just in case

First of all, what card do you have?

Simply download the drivers from here:
                  http://us.creative.com/support/downl...ame=Windows+XP

Then use WinRAR or WinZip to decompress the contents of the file to a directory on your hard drive.
                  e.g. c:\temp\X-Fi Drivers

Right-click on My Computer and select 'Manage'.

In the left pane of the window the comes up, select 'Device Manager'.

Scroll down on the right to 'Sound, video and game Controllers'.

Look for the entry for your card.
                  e.g. Creative SB Audigy

Right-click the entry and select 'Update Driver...'

Check off 'No, not this time', and hit 'Next'.

Check off 'Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)', and hit 'Next'.

Check 'Don't Search.I will choose the driver to install', and hit 'Next'.

                  Hit 'Have Disk...'

Click 'Browse', and browse to this subfolder where you decompressed the file earlier:
                  e.g. C:\temp\X-Fi Drivers\SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_07_0003\Drivers\wdm

Then click 'Open' and the rest should install by itself.

Reboot when the computer asks you to.

Installed the X-Fi drivers on my system (Audigy 2 ZS) and it works great in BF2 and Doom3. Had to copy the OpenAL.DLL over the BF2 one to make it work, without that BF2 would not load. Sounds fine to me.

Yes, you need to copy the OpenAL.dll from Windows\System32\ to your BF2 folder. There's a file there named BF2OpenAL.dll or something like that. Rename that one to something like "BF2OpenAL.dll_original" and copy over the new one from the System32 folder, then rename the new one to the name of the original file in the BF2 folder.

Yeah i did that and it worked, thanks.... Here is another question: In the audio options so i set it to software or hardware. But since i do not have X-Fi Creative, but have the drivere in my Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS i can not use the X-FI hidden feature, right?

Talus - See what you started?! :p

I'm not gonna go there because the SB beta drivers for BF2 work great on my Audigy ZS 2. :)

Right, you cannot use the X-Fi stuff. Set it to Hardware and High and you should be good to go.
