Anybody tried the new X-Fi drivers with an Audigy?

I may try it and report my findings here.

Someone on the Creative forums posted that he is using the new X-Fi drivers on his Audigy 2 ZS just fine and that they are WHQL certified.

ok had to install them manually (used winrar to extract the .exe and install them via device manager) and Version is now: 5.12.2.1143

I think these drivers rock, because I got a heavily performance boost, it feels alot smoother now and the infights are now smoother!

      I got no crash yet

thanks for the info about the new drivers

        Hey no problem.

What model sound card do you have?

Well, I just tried these drivers with my Audigy 1.

          They work GREAT!

I can even select 'Ultra High' settings now

When I select 'X-Fi' under hardware, it shows the EAX as 'EAX Advanced HD' but it tells me my hardware is incompatible (duh) so I haven't bothered to try leaving X-Fi selected.

Lemme check...I'll try that and then I'll go into the tunnel in Kubra Dam and let you know.

I guess it doesn't actually save the audio settings as Ultra High. My bad.

I don't get that reverb sound in the menu. Actually, my reverb in BF2 has ALWAYS been barely noticeable.

ok thx, my normal EAX is working fine, all I want now is EAX 4 HD, hope 1.03 patch fixes that

Ok...I have determined that my EAX effects are VERY quiet. I do get them...but just barely.

It has always been this way and I guess I never really noticed because I thought it was 'normal'.

Now I want my full EAX

Any chance of a breif indication of how to install these drivers?
                      Would be much appreciated.

download an extraction shouldnt be a problem, for the installation, do this:
                        run ctzapxx.exe (located here: C:\Program Files\Creative\SBAudigy2ZS\Program\support\i386 )
choose uninstall drivers and reboot, after reboot it asks you to install the drivers for your card, there choose the folder (in my it was in SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_07_0003\Drivers\wdm ) and from there its done

Awesome. That seemed to work but now the game crashes out when I 'Apply' the setting for X-Fi. Any way around that or is the sound quality better with the new drivers regardless? Also my Creative volume controls seemed to have been uninstalled in the process. Is this something I have to sacrifice?

You're not supposed to be actually able to select the 'X-Fi' device and use the ultra settings unless you actually have an X-Fi card.

This is just a way to get Creative's newest WHQL driver set in the hopes that performance or compatibility may be improved.

I just updated , using the setup.exe in the drivers folder . Its nice cuz it picked up that i have a audigy 2 and updated the drivers . Only problem i noticed was i had to update the openal driver before Bf2 would start . Besides that it runs great
