Constant Connection Loss

Have no idea what is the deal. Currently at my apartment complex in Gainesville hooked up to Fusion High Speed internet access. Have no idea what the problem is. Ive got Windows SP2 with firewall etc turned on, and I have an excellent ping to the servers I connect (always sub-70).

I enter the game and just after selecting my drop point, its pauses, and then remarks that I have lost connection with the server. Nearly any server I try this happenes, whether I select it myself or just click that Play button in the BFHQ menu.:cry:

I know its being game specific, because I can play UT2004 just perfectly fine with a substantially lower ping then I could ever get on my cable connection back at home.

Can anyone prescribe a possible solution to my perdicament, Im at a loss without this game!!!

Is your pb updated?

Put that file in your pb folder located in your BF2 folder.

C:// > program files > ea games > battliefield 2 > pb

Double click on it, let it do it's thing.

If that doesn't work, try rebooting your connection. Sometimes, my cable connection takes a dump. I'll get that "connection lost" error. So what I do is turn off my machine and reboot my modem. Then I can usually play fine.

Yes....game has latest patch...and I have updated my PB twice (second time it flied through confirming everything was already done).

I guess Ill give 'er a restart....

Im in Orlando on Fusion Broadband at my apartment and I get the exact same problem you are having and my ping usually stays below 100.

What are the hardware specs for your machine? I had the same problem, but found an answer that fixed my issue.

this may or may not give any help, but my isp was having minor lag spikes every 5-10 mins or so....I'd get 'problem with your connection' and kicked back to the browser..problem went on for over a week b4 they fixed it, now it runs fine...

do you notice any lag spikes while playing ut2004??? I'd play another game and make sure you have no freezing during play.

One thing I have noticed is that the handshake between client & server in bf2 is fragile at best...those spikes that kicked me from bf2 servers were only minor freezes / irritations in CS:S and UT99...

Make sure the connection is solid and steady, with some sort of monitor....once thats eliminated we can go from there...

Im still having horrible problems and I dont know what to do...I cant play long enough to start enjoying a map.

I lose connection after it says verifying client data. It takes me back to the main menu and says Connection has been lost with server. And this happens with EVERY server I connect to. I can't even play online damnit!

I had similar issues but not as bad, now my problem disappears. I have optimum broadband and a linksys router, I deleted the clone mac address entry and change it all to 00's, its been 5 days now and the problem never happened, before this fix I usually get about 2 or 3 disconnects in 3 hour time frame..

do you have a router connected from your cable/DSL modem? if none this fix does not apply to you, if you have one..see manual.. mine is on the advance setup..I'm busy at work so I cant really explain the full detail sorry..

I also I have have the same problem. Because of connection loss I can't even join 1 single server. Its like having my key invalid (but it is). Sucks. UBI/EA really have to do something on the upcoming patch.

This is a problem with Apartment Complexes. Call them up and explane your problem. Then tell them you would like to go back to what you had befor. Its your complex I have the same problem. I asked them to fix it and they did. When you get on the Complexes lines they firewall you. So just ask them to remove it from Your apartment :)
