Re: Playing BF2 Without the CD?

GameJackal is another good CD-free tool for most games, its also got anti-piracy measures included. It doesn't make an image of the entire CD/DVD, just the sectors that the copy-protection tries to read, it then encodes these with a unique user-id & saves them to HDD

But you have to BUY GameJackal. Most of these other tools are completely free or the trial versions are more than enough to give you the functionality you need.

What sort of price tag does it have? I've often thought about giving it a try.

GJ costs $29.95 and there is a free trial, I dont regret buying it. http://www.gamejackal.com/ & there are some good forums there. There are a few games it can't cope with (SecuRom 7.* protection) but it may be addressed soon.

..and obviously it cannot do StarForce

I refuse to buy ANY StarForce based game because of the nasty way it 'protects'.

Man..it would have been a NASTY day here at my place if BF2 had been released with StarForce !! THE DILEMMA :hmm:
