I read at www.battlefieldhq.com that this helo has infrared air-to-air missiles. First, is this true and if so how do you get to fire them? Does the gunner or pilot have them and how do you switch to them? I tried a couple times as gunner but have not been able to locate the air-to-air missiles.

Re: Mi-28 Heat seekers
you press the right mouse button it will bring you into tv missle mode, which is black and white, point the crosshair at a tank or whatever and let it rip, a decent pilot is required to use these effectively -

Re: Mi-28 Heat seekers
I think what he's asking is how to fire heat-sinking missiles like you would from a Stinger or a jet's Air-to-air missiles or a bomber's Air-to-ground missiles that lock onto their target.
The TV guided missiles on attach helicopters are not heat-sinking. I think they did this for balance reasons.Comment

Re: Mi-28 Heat seekers
i dont think its heek seeking missles becasue its called "tv guided missles"
so ur the one whos guiding it and not the heatComment

Re: Mi-28 Heat seekers
btw i believe that the heat seeking missles in the mig is so much more ...manueverable than the f35Comment

Re: Mi-28 Heat seekers
On a real Mi28, or AH-1Z they have stingers or sidewinders, but ofr obvious balance reasons in the game they took em out, the heli would be too overpowered, it's good how it is right now.Comment

Why?!
Re: Mi-28 Heat seekers
I wish the helicopters had AA missiles that can only target other helicopters. The way it is now, there is no quick way to kill another helicopter. Well not unless you have a super good gunner that can shoot down helicopters with TV missiles.

Absolutely not true. Hellfires are laser guided.Originally posted by PBAsydneyHellfires are not guided, they are heat seaking IRL.Comment

Re: Mi-28 Heat seekers
The first Hellfires were actually LASER guided, while the later models are RADAR guided.Originally posted by PBAsydneyHellfires are not guided, they are heat seaking IRL.
(And, yes, LASER and RADAR are written in caps.)
Answer to the OP:
Helicopters do not have heat-seeking AtA missiles whatsoever.Comment

Re: Mi-28 Heat seekers
Copy the HEATOBJECT,rename it to example HELIHEATOBECT. Add to all helicopters. Now you'll have to copy and rename a missle, example HELISIDEWINDER and change the object it seeks to HELIHEATOBJECT. Mount the HELISIDEWINDERS on your helo and you should now have a missles that will only track helicopters. You may have a problem with the targeting system though, not sure if this is hard coded or not!Comment

If only it were that simple.Originally posted by SmagmaCopy the HEATOBJECT,rename it to example HELIHEATOBECT. Add to all helicopters. The seek types are hardcoded into the game. There are only 3, Heat, Laser, and Unique.
While you can make a new heatobject, you have to set exactly what it is in the first place. In the example of the heatobject, the heat object is defined as a TTHEAT, the laser is defined as having a TTLASER target type.
I wish you could create more, and I hope that I or someone else find a workaround for this. I created a radar guided Air-to-Air missile but have no way to actually make it radar guided.
By the way in the above picture of mine I shot a sidewinder at that Z-10. I made a little mod that mounted sidewinder missiles on the side of the Cobra.Comment

Re: Mi-28 Heat seekers
Why should there be? I think it's actually an interesting dynamic. When 2 enemy helos bump into eachother, they end up tieing each other up for awhile. Neither can put down the other easly, so they're both distracted. Unless one makes a break for it.Originally posted by Why?!The way it is now, there is no quick way to kill another helicopter.
I've been in a lot of chopper vs chopper dog fights and I think they're a blast!Comment

Just a quickie Q: Do the jet A2A missiles target ground objects when you get close enough like, say, the bombs do?Comment

No. Not unless it should happen to be a air plane or helo on the ground.Originally posted by timsgameonlineJust a quickie Q: Do the jet A2A missiles target ground objects when you get close enough like, say, the bombs do?Comment
