People disregard the shotguns at range, saying they are useless. Putting a few rounds down range at an enemy 10-20m away will surely hurt him if not drop him. I usually do this and then whip out the ol' pistol and drill his ass.
Works every time.

And yes, the MEC autoshotgun is hilarious and very deadly. I usually unload whole magazines into people at high speed just to make sure theyre dead. Nothing beats a couple hundred pellets when it comes to close combat

I only play engy on SP, and lately, i've taken quite a liking to it. I think that the MEC one is the best tho, nice and quick firing is always good. The US one seems weak as p!ss!

The US and Chinese pump actions are over double the power per shot. Weak as piss they are not :p The pump actions fire 8 pellets each doing 25 damage where the Mec auto shottie fires 8 pellets each doing 12 damage.

The pump actions do require you not to miss though due to the slow reload where as the Mec gun you can just fire as fast as you can click.

If you get good with the pump action you will hate having to go back to the Mec shottie.

As for range shotguns are actually better than a lot think. The main thing I have noticed though is you do have to aim quite carefully as the spread is odd. Its almost like it fires a single slug but then that makes no sense with the damage on them. Quite odd but they do work well at short to medium range.

jackhammer is powerfull, but the recoil on that thing is a bitch :hmm:

just got this (jackhammer) as my 2nd unlock
not for the weapon itself, but becasue I drive armor and do my own repairs
NOW, with the hackhammer, I do not feel NAKED in a fist fight

and yes - do NOT go on auto
the recoil is so realistic, I swear I can feel the mouse jumping in my hand!

I love running into the DAO with my Jackhammer.
I usually put at least 4-5 rounds into them to be sure.

I was kinda sad to hear the Jackhammer another player had the other night.
It doesn't sound nearly as cool as when you shoot it yourself.

Funny, I picked the shotgun at Karkland by mistake last night and stuck with it until the end of the round. Great for jumping out of a tank and repelling pesky SpecOps busy with their C4. The same night, however, I loaded first on Katar, laid some mines (wisely), and, before I knew it, I was -36 on TK punish. Fcuking rookies. I guess that's what they call balancing a class.

Yesterday I hit someone 50 feet away through a fence and killed them in a single shot with the pump shotgun......

I will admit that I love my DAO. I've been using it regularly on my Dissonate account. It requires a whole different play style, I find myself hiding a lot, then jumping out at people. I've gotten so used to playing assault/support that I need to fight the urge to go prone. With the shotty I get suicidal and run at 'em, even groups of them, and I get success.

Only problems I have is 12 shots go fast, I usually need to resort to the pistol if there are more than three people. And range is a criplier. I do have rockets, but I hate using them on loners. The DAO has decent range, I've taken out people from quite a distance, but anything over say 50 meters, I'm better off hiding and trying to get them from around a corner.

That was me.... and I never left the game. There were several votes after that to get me to go, so I finished the round, then just left the server. And I am not a great player, I'd have a hard time even justifying average player. But I guess people get mad easily.....
