what i have - 8ms, good quality etc... 17" but 19" available (no point unless you can get a 19" with a higher native resolution, think of it this way - 17" and 19" with same native res, 17" is cheaper and sharper image, whereas 19" is merely larger...

Xbox360 mainly because for $400 i get really ****in good grafx that you cant get on any PC, and if i wanted anything close i would have to spend more than $4000. and anyway most all of the games comming out for PC will be on the Xbox too, and less lag and all that shiz, plus stff that PC doesnt have. although i like BF2 for pc, i'll prolly move to Xbox360 when the modern combat one comes to 360... so i wonder how many people will flme me for voicing my opinion
i mean i would love to see you guys get gfx this good(not in a movie) with 120fps...

Yeah, exactly and well said...I WANT to remain on PC (which I do, I do not own a console..well an N64 but that don't count) but the games coming out for console, some NEVER go to PC. Plus for 400 bucks, I mean that's a HIGHEST end PC rig at a freakin bargain basement price when you think about it. But PC gaming will still probably remain the "most noble" of the two..

Re: X360 or High end PC

I'll pick up a 360 for the kids. My youngest is 8 years old, and she loves a lot of the games for the xbox. As for myself the only thing I use the XBOX for is NHL games.

A lot of people say there are better games for the PS2, but everytime I browse for a games for that console, all I see is anime crap. No offense to the people that like that.... I just can't handle that.

As far as the graphics and what not, I always found a PC to be superior. Grant it, I didn't get a HDTV for the kids and their xbox, and if I did get one, its not going in the kids room :)

And the posts about Vista and gaming, I'm very concerned about that. Not enough to rush out and get the 360 sooner though. I do not agree with the DRM that is being packaged with the OS. I don't feel an OS should govern what hardware I use to play my games and watch DVDs. To require me to go and get a DRM enabled monitor just to use vista is a bit over the edge for me. If anything, it will cause me to use XP a lot longer or switch my gaming rig over to linux.

In my opinion, you don't even need a high end PC to compete with the Xbox or any console. The hardware in the consoles is already available for PC users. Plus as time goes on, you can always upgrade a PC, you can't upgrade a console. Well you can.... but MS doesn't like us modding the box too much.

                    I vote PC.

Re: X360 or High end PC

ok here we go. look im going to buy a 360 most likely due to racing games sports games and thats about it. the pc will be not as good as the consoles for about a half of a year then in like a year teh consoles will be absolete. with ppu cards coming computers will overtake consoles once again. they will never win in the race for people who actualy know how to operate a computer. for teh R&R guy a 360 or ps3 would rock! but not for a person like me. and go pick up 2 7800gtx for like 1000 then a 4000+ and total would be like 2400 for all the stuff and you get like 300 fps if you could. so dont worry about consoles overtaking pc anytime soon.

Re: X360 or High end PC

im not worried about either takin over eachother, i think consoles are good for peole who know how to invest in a life, im not flamin anyone for having a lot of money and buying a super computer but, most people dont have that money, or dont want to spend it, and whats the point to buying the best computer now anyway, there is a law... forgot who made it but it is true, that says... in every six months you computer will be obsolete...

any way i would never have to money for 3 pcus anyway, not to mention game that are specifically made for it.

so if there really was a race, in the end well grafically and performance wise, consoles would win, mainly because the games are tailored to that specific system, pc games are made to run on a veriety of different systems, hence the fog in BF2, this is because everyone does no have the 7800GTx's and all that BS... lets say if they started on '360, or PS3 they could jsut say hey we dont need it because everyone will have the same product,

hey its yet another long rant from me....
but in the end consoles will be better, mainly because you cant even buy a 7800GTx or whatever for the price of a next generation system( not to mention PCU's only go up to 64-bit and Next-Gen consoles are 256-bit)
and like i said most games that are worth while to PC are usually ported of originated from a PC

EDIT: and GTx's onlly get like 97fps on BF2 with everything cranked on high

Re: X360 or High end PC

I will always choose a PC upgrade over a console because of the following reasons.

                          1. FPS/RTS/Complex RPG's don't really work on consoles. Auto aim is completely lame, going through different stats windows is annoying.
                          2. No modding/tweaking/mapping for console games, you've played a game than it's over put it in a box and maybe play it again later.
                          3. Games are generally more expansive than PC games.
                          4. Online capabilities are restricted and not free.
                          5. Games that seem to be best suited for consoles are racegames, platform games and sports games all of which I don't play.
                          6. Lack of realistic games. No SWAT 4, LOMAC, IL2 type of games.

see i totaly agree. teh console is for RACING SPORTS AND games like these. i will most likly get a 360 because i love racing games. i love sports games and i love racing games (did i say this already?) so i am not rich and my computer is great it was about 1100 bucks and i bought it over a period of time. and im very happy with it. i get 60+ fps in bf2 all high no medium crap on 1280x960 with 4xaa its amazing.

If you build the computer by yourself and not get a dell it will be a lot cheaper!
