There are quite a number of us that has the problem with the long "Verifying Client Data" issue. Has EA yet point out the problem, try to fix it, or either make a statement about it?

Re: Has EA addressed the "Verifying Client Data" issue?
It all depends on your settings in-game.
If you're running things on high, trying lowering them a notch and that should decrease the amount of time it takes to load and verify. -

It's not a problem with EA, it's your system. Mine loads just fine with 2 gigs of ram.Comment

Re: Has EA addressed the "Verifying Client Data" issue?
I have:
1gb ram
2.4ghz (soon to be AMD 3800+)
x800xl
i set my game setting to default high, but not highest, and the game runs smooth most of the time, and to be frank, the verifying client data takes longer than my actualy loading time of the map....

Re: Has EA addressed the "Verifying Client Data" issue?
Greetings people of earth!. I fixed the problem on my system and I think it will help some of you here. There were a few other posts in this forum that led me to my personal fix. I discovered that my hard drive controller had changed transfer mode setting on my primary channel master drive (C drive) to PIO Mode from Ultra DMA 5- Ultra 100 which is the fastest setting my board will support. There was a message in the window saying something to the effect that the setting had been changed due to errors on the circuit, verify proper IDE cable installed and jumper settings. All I then did was to check a box "Let Bios select transfer mode" and it defaulted back to Ultra DMA. Why this happened I dont know, I had done some benchmarking a few weeks back prior to the game and it was all good, on par with my secondary D Drive.
What I had been seeing trying to get into the game was this: 45 seconds or so to load the map and 2 to 3 minutes to verify ( or longer). Usually the song would play during loading , end shortly into verification, play completely again and then finish verifying about halfway into the third repetition. It was consistent too. After the fix 45 seconds to load and a 22 count to verify.
The system:
Athlon XP 2800 pretending to be a 3200 (200 x11) watercooled
1.5 gigabytes of cheap PC3200 3,3,3,8
MSi K7N2DELTA board Nforce 2
GEFORCE 5700LE 256mb coolbits tweaked to 299 core freq and 500 mem freq
C drive WD1200BB-00DAA3
D drive WD1600JB-00HSA0
I looked at my other computers, one a VIA chipset and one an INTEL and while they are all a little different the settings are easy enough to find and adjust.
start-control panel-system-hardware tab-device manager-IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers on the Nforce boards.
Good Luck!!

Re: Has EA addressed the "Verifying Client Data" issue?
I really have to comment on this. You need to realize that when someone says its a problem, they are thinking just like you. If it work or does not work on my system it must or must not be a problem. Very shallow thinking. The widespread reports of this happening suggests that it might be. We have three identical systems for lan party, all with 2 gig or ram and the verifying client problem was happening on two of them. A wipe and reinstall of BF2 fixed the problem on them but it starting happening again on one of them.Originally posted by NitemareIt's not a problem with EA, it's your system. Before you make a comment like the one you made think first. There are many different systems out there and an error in the game can cause problems with one machine and not even be apparent on another.Comment

Its not an EA issue they can fix. Nor will they fix something that doesnt need fixing. Get more ram.Comment

Re: Has EA addressed the "Verifying Client Data" issue?
"verifing client data" is checking all your files for modification/corruption. The only way to improve on this is to improve your computer performance/hard disk I.O. The easiest thing is to defrag often. All other improvments will help this scan run faster. This is like a virus scan sorta, but checking md5 sums instead of signatures. More ram, faster processor, faster hard drive, etc... will all shorten the time it takes. If it takes your pc longer to do this check than your buddies, its not EAs fault, it is just that your buddie has a faster computer (or it is able to do this check faster than yours). Just My opinion.Comment

Re: Has EA addressed the "Verifying Client Data" issue?
There is no issue, it just takes that long to verify if the level/mod data on your computer hasn't been tampered with. This is because of the enormous amount of data a map/mod comprises.Originally posted by iflabsThere are quite a number of us that has the problem with the long "Verifying Client Data" issue. On the whole, O-B is right on target. Perhaps DICE (not EA) can optimize the process some but the same rule of PC specifications and performance applies even if improvements were made.Originally posted by ODD-BALL"verifing client data" is checking all your files for modification/corruption. It's also agreed that the verrificatin process is ungodly long. On the other hand, it provides the opportunity to run to the fridge between maps. :)Comment

The verifying data part is for punkbuster. It scans your client files to make sure none of them have been altered.Comment

Or install the game on a RAID drive. Cuts the verifing time nearly in half.Originally posted by ODD-BALL"verifing client data" is checking all your files for modification/corruption. The only way to improve on this is to improve your computer performance/hard disk I.O.

Re: Has EA addressed the "Verifying Client Data" issue?
Everyone is saying the problem is within the clients system but what would be the point of a verification system thats totally client based...it could be hacked just like the game. the verification must have an online component
I have had problems with long verification time (loading is fine)...AND the long verification times started spontaneously. When i first installed the game the verification times were fine.
** and WHY does the game have to verify you in between rounds????? Like you can install a mod during a game????Comment
