    Sniper Scope

What are the little inch markers on the m95's scope for? they have like a 6 then not to far after this is an 8, do you use these when you are aiming farther away?

useless if u ask me. either for detrmening the distance or recoil hit. usualy real sniper scopes will have lines on the cross hairs and that acutlay serves use

      Re: Sniper Scope

Well if BF2 actually had bullet time and stuff it would be useful but since its pretty much point and click it doesn't really matter.

          Re: Sniper Scope

BF2 has bullet drop, so it does serve a purpose. It's like the speed and altitude of the planes, some people think it's useless, but it's handy for many things.

            Re: Sniper Scope

            Indeed it does.

The bullet drops over very large distances. Im yet to try it but, ill get there.

Btw mate, by the looks of that TOW coming towards the scope in that screenie, id say your pretty screwed.

              Re: Sniper Scope

I've heard people go round and round about the bullet drop on these forums and I thought it was finally decided that it didn't exist in BF2...I've never experienced it, and hvae always just shot at the person and hit, I've tried to aim high a couple times at distances but it never drops and I always miss..

Ofcourse there's bullet dynamics in BF2. that's why you have to lead people when they're running. Speed, altitude etc... You have to correct for distance in a tank.

Errr... I've got >1,000 sniper kills, and I have never had to make any adjustment for distance - there is no bullet drop. On the other hand, there IS invisible terrain (which is trivial to prove), that is often a problem - you should aim 'high rather than low' at long range targets.

"Ofcourse there's bullet dynamics in BF2. that's why you have to lead people when they're running. Speed, altitude etc... You have to correct for distance in a tank."

Tank shells, rockets, grenades, missiles are all physically modelled and are affected by gravity aka "bullet drop". Bullets are not modelled and do not have physics (instead they have 'deviation' /spit).

The marks on all of the sniper rifles are mainly useless - the SVD's being truly stupid...

                          Re: Sniper Scope

From my experience, there is no actual set bullet drop, the bullet drop most snipers encounter is simply regular rifle deviation from the intended path, and I suspect the scope itself is slightly off. And yes, a guy and I just sat on an empty unranked server emptying clips of m24 rounds on each other until we were satisfied about things. It seems that aiming just a little above the head at around 500m's is about right.
