Eryx Sniper Missile vs .50 Sniper Rifle

A lot of people complain that there's no real sniper weapon in BF2. That's because they're looking in the wrong kit. Sure, you'd expect a .50 caliber high velocity round to score an automatic kill at any range under 3000 meters with a headshot. So much for expectations. Regardless of any nonsense anyone here has ever posted, the M95 in BF2 is not an automatic one-shot kill even point blank and zoomed in to the head. Period. This is beyond dispute.

The real sniper weapon is the Eryx. It has longer range, it's guided, it does a lot more damage, and it doesn't need to be a direct hit. Furthermore, it damages every single vehicle in addition to being an automatic one-shot kill vs any soldier.

If you want to be a highly effective sniper, give up the kill assist m95 and go with the Eryx. You'll thank me.

well thank you very much for sheding more light on the already out of control use of anti tank weapons i can't tell you how many times i've been killed by some non skilled fool with an ERYX or grenade launcher

Eryix taking the same "non-skill" as the noobtube? Please...

You have to guide the thing, enemies can see it, and you make an easy target as the trail points back to you. The grenade launcher on the other hand...bump into enemy, face down, jump and shoot.

Countless times I have come across some n00b who shoots with me with their Erix when I am like a few yards away, sometimes even knifing distance! Erix are used for long distance or for taking out tanks not close combat quarters against foot soldiers!

You, sir, are wrong. I use my ERYX against infantry as much as against tanks. Therefore, you can't tell me it's not for "close combat quarters" against infantry. I recently played Sharqi Peninsula and took out two snipers back to back with rockets, and got a few kill damage assists on attack choppers by hitting them while they tried to hover and flag cap.

Its a lot more versatile kit than people give it credit for. And there's nothing wrong with that.

The reason I tend to kill infantry with the AT missile is because that's the weapon I have ready when running around looking for vehicles. If someone pops out and tries to shoot me, I'm not gonna take the time to put away the missile and then pull out my crappy SMG. I'd be pretty much dead before having the SMG ready :p

The problem with giving the ERYX splash damage would mean that it would be even EASIER to snipe with. Just hit the ground near the person and they will go down. It's probably best this way.

understandable but when you get on a map and almost the entire team is running around with AT kits it gets a little old especially when nobody is using vehicles because you get battered by 4 rockets before you ever see a single person

A nice mix of kits is usually the best, too much of any single kind gets dull pretty fast. But if there's plenty of tanks/apcs/helis on a map, then plenty of AT might be a good thing. At least it will stop the BH-you-know-what

The only comfort I can give you against these and noob tubers is you're giving a lot of time to take them out before you get nailed. Use it to your advantage and soon you'll see:

errr, what game are you playing?

Look dude, headshots are not 100% surefire kills with the M95 at point blank. My clan has tested the weapon at every range from every angle and if you take 100 shots POINT BLANK and ZOOMED IN at an enemy's head, and you hit with all of them, you will not score 100 kills. I have over 170 hours of rated sniper time in this game.

Yea this is a good idea... apart from the fact its got 5 shots... And it takes aprox 4 seconds to hit the target... in that time the enemy sniper could have got off 2 shots...
