clawhammer vs San Diego core...

so im gonna buy a 64 4000+. im lookin on newegg for prices and i see the clawhammer and san diego core versions...now i donno the diffrence between the two cored, i have a vague memory of someoen telling me the san diego cores better...but id like some advice on wich way to go...

You can take a look at this article on OC of a AMD 64 3000+ Venice core, it gives good description of the new Venice and San Diego cores, the only difference between Venice and San Diego is the size of cache, so description is same or similar:

in short difference or improvements are lower temps and uses less voltage, and better memory controller and sse3 instructions .

the 4000+ san diego is $380 on newegg

I thought that the Clawhammer was for Socket 754 only?

The San Diego is a monster in gaming because of the full 1MB of L2 cache compared to the 512kb of the Venice.

yea i will eventually, but for right now im on a rather limited budget, im still savin up for this, another few weeks and i can afford it all, but after a while il buy anotehr gig or so :)

oh one other question for peopel, ive never bought any specal fans for my CPU, but sence im gettin such a nice one, i think il buy somethign OTHER then stock. Thermalright XP-120 is a good one im told...with a 120mm fan on it?
