OK, I took the screens and under every screen I have the average, would It be the average or not ? lets see...
I will do two calculations, one with the negative scores and one without, I do not count myself in, because this would be stupid, calculating an average with the so called average

First screen, start of the game, gettng my first commander point.

    16 players - myself is 15 players.
4+4+2+2+2+1-5-6-6 = -2 -2 / 15 = -0.3 so this way it isn't my score at all, my curent score is 1 and it actualy should be negative.
    Now without the negative scores.
    4+4+2+2+2+1 = 15 15 / 15 = 1
This could be it people !!!

Second image , here I have 4 commander points

    Still 16 players
    now we have 10+8+6+6+6+4+4+4+3+2-6-7 = 40 40 / 15 = 2.6 points , this isn't my curent score, my curent score is 4 , now without the negative points.
    10+8+6+6+6+4+4+4+3+2 = 53 53 / 15 = 3.5 but 3.5 is actualy 4

Third image , here I have 11 commander points

Still 16 players and one major moron gettng -24 points
    now we have 21+20+16+15+15+10+10+10+8+8+6-6-24= 109 109 / 15 = 7.3 not my score, curent score is 11 , without the negative scores.
    21+20+16+15+15+10+10+10+8+8+6 = 139 139 / 15 = 9.3 so here we are going of track because we are 2 points short.

Fourth image, here I have 20 commander points

Still 16 players and the moron with -25 points.
    Now we have 49+26+22+20+19+19+18+14+12+8+8-25 = 190 190 / 15 = 12.6 points , so we have 7 points short.
    Without the negative score
    49+26+22+20+19+19+18+14+12+8+8 = 215 215 / 15 = 14.3 meaning 6 points short .

So it can be something with the average but not completely , my team sucked like hel and we lost the game, I think if my team did realy good caping flags I would have a bigger score.

One thing is for shure, if it has to do with the average, well the negative scores don't count.

Also tried counting my own score in it, didn't work ether.

And i checked, you check it to, if you look at the names in my team you will see nowbody left or entered my team in the first three screens, but on the third screen the score wasn't the average anymore, on the fourt screen just one change in my team

Tha average theory is sometimes proven stupid, i mean there are scores which just dont make any sense. Unless you say that if you do nothing at all then it might be the avergae, but thats stupid and doesnt have any use cause no commander is gonna do nothing...

The thing we wanna now is how you achieve BY YOURSELF the command points.

I´ll relate it to in some occasions you get points when your team neutralizes flags and caps flags and sometimes only cap flags. That also has to do with the orders you give, like attack this or that, etc...

At least that was what i last saw when playing commander.

              Oh yeah and another thing:

There is no way your commander score can drop unless you teamkill by artillery... and that doenst´count towards badges and ribbons so...

seems when it's finaly prooven the commander score isn't the average of the teams score that nowbody cares anymore, strange

I meant, what type of average calculation does the game (BF2/ea/dice) use.

I saw the calculation under the picture, I know what type of average was used there, I also saw that it doesn't add up correctly ergo the commanders score.

This is how I have gathered it since starting to play commander and it pretty much works out everytime. You get point for your team doing certain things during the round this makes your commander score during the round NOTHING ELSE no average of the team or anything like that. The whole "AVERAGE" thing only comes into play for your bonus at the end of the round when you "WIN" the round. Your "BONUS" is 2x the average of the team NOT YOUR IN THE ROUND COMMANDER SCORE.

Read the thread someone linked to from the officiall forums. Its on page 4 or 5 that there is a huge breakdown of the python script that calculates it.

The break-down, while still very informative, still has some parts where we don't really know what's going on. To sum up the points made so far:

                          1. Start with the assumption that it's an average (supported by the EA thread interpretation of the python code), calculated in some way, possibly with modifiers.

                          2. Don't count negatives?

                          3. Don't forget the 2x is already included at endgame results

                          4. Fractional points may build up, giving an odd number after 2x. (Odd as in not even, not odd as in strange.)

                          5. Players leaving and joining may affect the result. The game seems to use a rolling average. (This is from the python interpretation in the EA thread.)

                          6. This rolling average is based on the number of players alive, not both alive and dead (from the EA thread). In other words, less players alive when a player scores means fractionally more points for the commander. This makes sense conceptually, since it's harder to score points when your team is badly hit.

The best way to test theories on your own is single player mode, since no-one leaves or joins mid-game, and there are few or no TKs.

If you have cooperative players, you can set up a real test and try everything, including keeping a certain number of players dead to see if it changes things (since this is impossible in a single player game). This is something an organized clan could do.

Re: because nowbody reads, here is the real commander score system

I take it you're referring to the break-down I did of the Python code on the egames.co.uk forums?

You won't get an 'odd' score from the 2x. Although it keeps track of the fractions it only will ever display the total number of currently whole points from this, and this is also what will be doubled if you win.

But, yes, other than that, it's the rolling average (which should be the same as the 'end of the game average if no-one joins or leaves'). The meaning of 'Alive' is open to interpretation. It may simply mean those that have actually spawned once in the round already, rather than still be connecting but already assigned a team.

And what we don't know unless someone takes the time to find out in a controlled experiment is exactly what OTHER actions add to the Commander's score. It's assumed that at least artillery kills do. Any Commander TK definitely does take away from the score (has to be artillery really, maybe dropping a crate on someone's head counts, or is that a 'foo is no more').
Anyway, the whole point to asking this question "How is a Commander's score determined?" is to be able to specifically take actions to increase it, right ? Well, that's my last paragraph above then. Someone go grab a passworded server with only people taking part in the experiment and see which actions definitely up the Command Score (shown on the Commander's screen, NOT on the TAB scoreboard).
Someone else did post a list of what they thought it was, I don't know how thorough their research has been, and the eagames forums are 'unavailable' as I type, so I can't even go copy and paste the list.

Yes, Athan, I'm assuming you must be AthanToo. :)

Yup, forgot to mention the commander himself can get negative points, by TKing and I assume team damage as well.
