    Re: Help with the PKM

I had a good time with the PKM last night playing Dragon Valley:

I camped in the Stinger site at the top of the hill at the south end of the map. I took out about 5 choppers with the stinger. I kept a close eye on the bridge to my right and was able to pop out and go prone behind the sandbags and take out infantry as they tried to rush our base. I also scattered ammo bags around the area and near the base. I think I ended up going like 18-2 and racking up a shitload of teamwork points.

Meh all I can say is I use it and it serves me well. I don't feel bad about unlocking it because like I said I started a new account just so I could unlock it faster. If you have the pkm and don't like it then you have two choices, don't use it or start a new account.

Are you experienced using the saw? i would guess its the same principle as that.

With the SAW you don't need too 'shoot in burst' you just need to go prone get the sight up and let them have it adjusting to allow for recoil. Works a charm for me :)

            Re: Help with the PKM

After a week of playing with the gun, i can say i am -satisfied- with it. The support class as a whole got a problem with the headshots...i mean your face is the most likely part of your body that will be hit when you fire the gun. That is really frustrating to hit 3 times on an armored guy, who then manages to get one shot home and you die.

            1. Don't play "the kid" with the big toy, you'll loose unless the enemy lags or is scared out of all hell. My worst enemies are the spec ops with their G36cs, that have an insane rate of fire, which basically mean they WILL headshot me before i am even prone. Quick draw contests are the support's weakness

            2. Sniping...god...don't snipe with this thing, play a sniper. You shoot tracer rounds and make a nasty TCHAK TCHAK noise as well as making a show of yellow flashes that scream "shoot here!i'm prone!". People will add all this and then...spot you, which guarantees either a sniper bullet or a 203 in your face.

My best successes with the PKM has been in Karkand, where i can find a place to hide, and let the enemy overwhelm my position...then when i have a clean shot in their back...i mow them down and go elsewhere. That's if they dont' spot your 10 feet long model through walls.

EDIT: ok there is one thing going for this baby. You're a support class, which means you're there to suppress the enemy while your squad advances to a better position. That implies you need to make alot of noise, light and make the enemy think "run for cover! mg spotted us", even if they actually have slim chances to be hit, it gives a few more seconds for your team to take the initiative and strike first. If you manage to score a few hits with this gun, then they will certainly scramble (the dmg is good). So, the pkm does that role pretty well...

I think they should implement a recover time for jumping like CS did.

NO ONE bunny hops in CS: Source.... people jump, but no bunny hopping like old days, thats the way it should be

EDIT Heh, did see that this was six pages long :)

When I was going for my Veteran Knife award, I found that when someone starts to bunny hop, a good option is to run like a maniac in circles. You don't even have to hop, just frantically scurry. When the bullets stop spraying, charge right at them and gank them in the face! It was too easy on Karkand.

                  Re: Help with the PKM

So anyways back to the PKM! hehe I just unlocked it last night as my third unlock and must say it is a nice upgrade to the rest of the support guns. I read and hear alot of people saying you need to burst fire while prone to hit anything, you do, but you can still go full auto, you'll waste only 20 shots but you will get the kill, 20 shots is fine with me cause I can drop an ammo pack at any time! Aside from that, if I run into a sniper I just prone and full auto him, sure I may get killed, but he also might choke up and take to long allowing me to come out victorious. The only bad thing in my opinion is that you can't stand and unload on someone at all! I tried it and it near took me a whole clip, and by then he had killed me. Of course this is only in the case of turning a corner and he was right there.

As for helpfull tips....just be prone and give em hell!
