Wtf are you talking about the M16 is a very good firearm. It's accurate light and dependeble. It did get off to a bad start in Vietnam but that was decades ago. And it's not a cheap gun. Go into a gun store and look at the price. It is a very good gun.

The L85a1 in reality is highly accurate on the ranges even with iron sights, but otherwise it sucks - There's too many parts to clean, parts are fiddly (TMH pins are easily lost or broken, recoil springs fly several feet if you're not ultra careful removing them), it's uncomfortable to carry, you cannot fire it left handed, the mags are crap, the top cover springs open, bits fall off, etc .. I've first hand of experience.
In game it's as good (and seems more accurate than) as any of the other medic weapons, you just need to practice.

I dont get how its underpowered? I am "anyone who has used it" since I unlocked it as my first unlock. It does 95 damage. What do you want it to do? 97 damage? What does it even matter. I know for damn sure it should never do 100 damage or every n00b on the planet would have it. Improve the scope a little and its fine. If you cant kill with the M95, then thats your problem. Make it do more damage and I promise you every other thread will be a "OMFG I was 1 shotted 18 times in a row" whine fests.

I have found the L85 in single shot mode to be very good.

          Absolutely love this gun.

Check and you will see data that supports my claim that L85 just plainly sucks compared to other rifles.
Shots needed to kill (going from limbs/bodyarm/unarmored body/head):
              M16s: 5/6/4/2
              L85: 5/5/4/2
              AK47: 4/4/3/1

              Deviation for the first shot:
              M16s: .3
              L85: .3
              AK47: .42

You can see that it's just a tad stronger than the M16, but look at the recoil graph...
http://bf2issues.digitalsoftware.se/...iance_graf.php . Crap I call that. I don't understand why it is an unlock other than the fact that it has a scope. Well I know how to use sights so it doesn't do much for me unless I wanna headshot from midrange.

I am still trying to find a reason why I can't "get used to" this gun. I didn't like the m95 but I started liking it after I got used to it.

If you dont take care of any weapon it will fail you eventually. Cleaned once a day an M16a2 will function reliably in the field and be accurate. Sure the Ak47 will fire with mud in the barrel, but then turn around and ask said soldier to hit a target at 100 yard, then 200, and then and you will see where the "Quality" of the weapons lie. The best of both worlds will come when the U.S. adopts the H&K XM8 assualt rifle in 6.8mm (and finally gets rid of the 5.56mm its currently using). As accurate as the M16, as reliable as an AK47, a bullet with better ballistics then either the 7.62 soviet or the 5.56 nato, and modular. In short, the M16a2 isnt crap, you just dont know what your talking about.

i have the G3 it's accurate i guess but with any gun in the game you can't shoot accurately from a standing position you have to go prone for the best accuracy so it really all depends on how fast you are with changing positions it really sucks in the sense that it has a small clip so after 1 to 2 kills you need to reload which takes a while so don't go getting into the thick of a battle and expect to kill lots of enemies unless you feel like pulling your pistol of knife out

as for the sniper rifle if it was realistic it should kill anyone with a single chest shot and 2 torso limb shots the M95 should be able to take down a helo if you hit it in the right spot

and i'm working on getting the L85 simply because i hate the burst fire with the M-16 i know thats realistic but it's aggrivating while you're playing a game the thing that makes the M-16 stand out above other assault rifles is the ease of fire the recoil is slight and the accuracy is good which makes for a very desirable fighting weapon

but what i would really like to have is an XM8 those were a part of POE for BFV and i prefer that weapon over anything else in that mod i don't know how realistic it was but it was nice

Let's see here... the bunch of you arguing about the RL characteristics of the M16/L85(SA80 really) etc. are all idiots/retards/whatever.

It's a game, the only thing that counts here is how it applies to the game, so the rest of it is moot. That being said, the SA-80 (L85) in RL is a piece of sh1t, but whatever.

Back to the game: so is the L85 good as a medium ranged sniper rifle? To be used in semi-auto mode while prone with the scope? If so, I'm going to unlock it. If not, I'm gonna get something else. To me this would seem to be a great rifle for trying to get head shots. If you guys are trying to use it on full auto while standing, you're missing the whole point of the gun.

                        ...?

They dont: Britain, France, America, Germany etc. Russia has a largely conscript army with a smaller section within it that's professional. If you look at nations that use similar weapons, they either have conscript armies or expect to have to raise a conscript army if they were to be sucked into a war.

And this http://world.guns.ru/assault/as22-e.htm - is based on the L85 and the L85A1 rather than the L85A2 which does actually work, and for which for some inexplicable reason DICE didnt put into BF2.

It IS just a crap gun compared to Western arms. It's more rugged and reliable, which make it good for giving to conscripts etc. but in exchange for that it sacrifices any semblence of accuracy. There is a reason why nations with professional armies dont use guns that look like AKs, externally or internally.
                          one little fact:

                          AK-47 uses 9.72 mm rounds
                          M16 uses 5.65 mm rounds

now you tell me which one is stronger?

No. Try 7.62 for the AK-47, AK-74 and AK-103 uses 5.45x39 mm, AK-101 uses the SAME as the M16, NATO 5.56x45, then factor in projectile speed and we'll talk... A big bullet moving slow or a light one moving fast, which one is better? Depends on what You want. AK-102/4/5 uses a variety of calibers, pretty much the ones mentioned above depending on what You want.

That is obviously not true. Where would they get ammo? using an AK would be very likely to get you killed by friendly fire given its distinctive sound and the fact US forces don't use them. I guess maybe you are repeating what was actually said to be the case in Vietnam though apparently it was equally untrue then as well due to the friendly fire reason.
