you dont get points when a teammate captures flag, or points for suplies/uav, or anything else.

just a good old average, when your teams score goes up, so does yours.

the flag has to stay up for a while, you don't get the point directly, also keeping flags brings up, but less then capturing flags, it is realy not the average, 100% shure

many flag caps then u get many points.. that's all.
its not. I know for a 100% fact you dont get points when your team caps a flag. Ive watched my team go into an enemy base, neatralize then cap a flag and my points didnt go up. Then an enemy guy came and one of my teammates shot him and then I got a point. Its just the average.

I don't know Drayen, average seems right to me, I've been looking at it recently, but there could very well be more to it. Maybe several people joined the game in the middle? One theory is that everytime someone gets a point, you get that point divided by the number of the people in the game at that moment.

Anybody try being commander with no squads at all? I wonder if that affects things.

          can't you read ?
I said it takes a moment before you get the point of your caped flag, this is why you got the point just after the flag capure, it's all about capturing flags and keeping flags.

maybe for each 20 you would get a point to, but I think so, how are you going to explain that on a 16 player server running a 32 player map, there isn't much killing there but lots of flag capturing that you reach so many points there as a commander ?

That doesn’t actually exclude the average theory – it could just be related to a high variance in player score. Say for example that there are six people on your team including you (the commander). The scores (excluding the commander) are 10, 3, 3, 1, 1, giving an average of 3.6. The scores are always whole numbers so, rounded up, your score is 4, the second highest on your team.

New players signing in is an interesting question. Perhaps it doesn’t factor in players with a score of 0 or lower? If you’re really interested it would be very easy to find out. Just record the result at the end of the round and calculate the average. If it isn’t an exact average try eliminating 0/negative scores. Wreck0’s suggestion is also interesting and would make calculation very difficult.

Also, I have a feeling TKs are deducted at times, perhaps in the way ZapStarfighter suggests.

Dang, I posted this in another thread... but whatever:

Could it be the average of positive points only? Not counting players' negative points.

Well I just played an hour of BF:2 as commander (about 5 matches) and each time I got the average of my teams overall score which is what I always thought it was anyhow.

Could those who say it's something different please show us screenshots of the final score table so we can see that it's more than just the average?

It is the average score of the team. If you think otherwise you better wear a condom if you have sex.... If you get to have sex at all.

                  Tried and tested.

I have 21000 commander points. Trust me

OK, for argument sake, let's assume it's the average score of your team. Is it the average score of the final screen shot? So, if you had a bunch of guys join at the last second, you commander points would drop significantly? Or is there a "moving average" of sorts? Anyone know for sure?

Well. If a teammate scores a point you get 1/(x-1) points where x is players in your team. So if people disconnect or connect you dont "lose" points. These added together sometimes becomes "half a point" which explains the odd score you sometimes get at the end of a round. Also. If you play as a regular class during half the game and get commander in the middle your initial score is not doubled only the command part. (I have tested this). So you cannot start as tankwhore to build up score and then get it doubled. If you command half the round you will get combat and commander score not just one of them.

And to all the doubters. Do you think a commander gets 0.5 points for something? If the answer is no then please explain to me why you can get an odd score after x2

                      Finally.

Commander score is average of team score
Commander score is average of team score
Commander score is average of team score
Commander score is average of team score
Commander score is average of team score
Commander score is average of team score

Re: Commander Points- The Real Story

I beleive it's actually the average of the points EARNED by your team. So say all 8 players on your team have 10 points. The commander would have 10 points. Later, all of them would TK bringing each player's score down to 6. Shortly after, all of them get 2 points thus the commander would also get 2 points raising his score to 12 assuming he had no TKs or didn't kill any enemies directly.

The problem is that very few people are accepting it as solid proof.

It seems to be the average + *somethig magic* which we haven't managed to figure out yet.

It would make sense that if a commander said 'supplies available' and a squad leader accepted them, that the commander would get points for doing so. I can think of lots of other ways the commander may be getting points but until I see a case where the commanders score is *less* than the rolling average score I'm sticking to Athan's theory.

*something magic* = to the commander's kills with his gun/arty?
