Solution to the game crash reboot problem?

Has anybody found a solution to the game crashing reboot problem? I've tried practically everything short of replacing hard ware and nothing has fixed it.

Have you tried updating and cleaning your drivers?

I've been wanting to get a sound card actually.

            I've tried tons of drivers.

And now it happens after playing for like 10 minutes.

Well the X-fi sound cards are going to be extremely expensive when they first hit the market ($400 for the top one).

If nothing else, get an Audigy2 ZS, I have one, and it does stuff just fine.

Now it's happening more frequently, like every 30 minutes.

Are your temps ok? good airflow?
What gfx card do you have and how hot are the CPU and GPU right after you have a hard crash?

In regards to the sound card theory...just do a test run. Boot your computer and enter BIOS and disable any onboard soundcard you have. Save settings and reboot...try running the game then and see if everything goes ok. If you're solid then you know your problem and should upgrade to a slot card.

Temperatures are very normal. The GPU is around 60c.

I have a 480w Thermaltake Silent Purepower PSU...it should be sufficient.

I called BFG tech support and they thought it might be power related, but the only way to tell was to try it out on another machine, which i don't have.

Tried it with onboard sound disabled, still happened.

I think i'm going to reformat soon.

                            Hmmm....

Can you list all of your hardware? A pain I know...

                              Josh,

Save your time on the reformat. I just installed a new HD and all of the latest drivers with a very clean XP Pro install. I then installed BF2 before anything else and still experience the crash/reboot issue. Driving me freaking nuts!!! I just don't understand why I can play for hours sometimes and other times I can't go for more than 20mins. This is frustrating as hell!
