    Re: Faq

Hey guys, great FAQ. I have a suggestion if you're interested.

Keep the first post up-to-date with links to each post that answers a question, so you have a "FAQ index" at the start of the sticky. That way, people will be more likely to use it-having to hunt through pages and pages for your question will just get people posting a new thread on the same tired old questions.

      Re: Faq

Can anyone tell me what they do when using multiple bridge segments?

Right now I've been trying to align 4 bridge segments to make 1 wide long bridge and it's difficult to align.

Is there a easier way to merge these so that you have only 1 object? Sort of stitched together?

I see the group objects button, but it doesn't seem to do anything...

      Thanks!

ApexAZ-I don't know for sure, but I remember seeing a "snap to object" option somewhere...try that, perhaps?

Thanks. I *think* I tried that, but can't remember for sure.

If it's the same setting, it just overlapped them and didn't really align them. Ideally I'd like to 'stitch' them together to create one object if possible.

Well it will align atleast 1 axis but for bridges it will atleast align 2 axises so all you have to do is move one axis and use your eyes.

Yeah, I managed to use it and move the pieces around so that they appeared aligned.

The dilemma is that even if I overlap them all some, and it all appears perfectly aligned, I still see artifacts and cracks along the seams when I change to the soldier camera.

If you overlap the bridge segments you will get graphical errors, like if you have a flat terrain with the same height as water. You would have to match the Y & Z (or Y & X) axis and then alter the 3rd axis. For mine I zoomed in as far as i could and was actually typing in the 3rd axis into the tweaker bar, its tedious but its neccessary if you want it to look perfect. I usually end up going to 2-4 decimal places when aligning objects.

                  possible to change maploading-music

I suppose the musical score in the beginning when you load a map are determined by the nationality of the non-us team (chinese/middleeast).

But my question is: is it possible to add your own music and somehow pack it with the custom map?

                    Re: Faq

I think you can, I havent tried it though. First you will need to produce an .ogg file for the music you want to put in (theres many different software out there which can do this)
Then go to the Info folder in your map folder, open Your_Level.desc and change the line "<music> common/sound/menu/music/load_MEC_music.ogg </music>" to where you put your music / filename.

fyi, wou will need to add the ogg file to the client.zip file (and into the directory you picked in the desc file) manually after packaging

note: This is untested, don't blame me if it doesnt work :p

Nope. Musical Score is done by the mod. If you wanted to change music it would have to be a modded folder.

                        Re: Faq

If your map is US vs MEC you will not have to change your music, if you rmap is US vs CHINA you will have to go into your info folder for your level and then go into the yourlevel.desc file which can be opened with notepad. Then switch the line Load_MEC_music.ogg to Load_CH_music.ogg. If you are making a china vs mec map choose what you like. If you want to make your own music you'll have to use a mod.

                            Creating Selectable Spawn Points

You can create multiple spawn points in a large base by selecting a spawn point and setting it's group setting to 1 in the tweak bar.

For example the Gulf of Oman uses this on the aircraft carrier, where you can spawn upper deck or lower deck.

                              Faq

Put objects together the easy way - aircraft carriers - dam - docks etc.

                              1. Put all the carrier objects on the map.
                              2. Draw a bounding box around all the objects that you want to connect.

                              3. Next in the editor/general area - right side under Align To Anchor hit "Stamp" then "Align"

I have noticed this doesn't work particularly well with bridges.

2 ways to copy or clone an object - not object spawners

                                1. With the object selected hold ctrl + move the selected object and a clone will come out of it like a ghost.

                                2. Select object and and hit ctrl + c - Then select an area (use top down view for easiest way) that you want to copy to and press ctrl + v. When using this method to copy an object over water you will have to bring the object up to the water level after pasting.
