geez, i cant believe some of you guys favor the AT over specops. seriously its just plain stupid to play as AT. Shoot one rocket, takes five minutes to reload and do again twice. WOW thats effective and being a team player. Also, the DAO sucks if your not playing one of the urban maps. Have fun trying to kill people on maps like Kubra Dam. I think Spec Ops are much more a team player, because: a) you have to put your life on the line to go take out a tank, b) it gets rid of the tank threat immediately (which could stop a flag being captured or a tank spamming your spawnpoint). In terms of taking out jeeps or what not, noobnades do the job much more effectively, and can be used against infantry much more effectively than the rockets can. Personally, I just dont see the appeal of this guy. He's usually very low scoring, and all of his abilities can be done through other classes (Assault, Spec Ops)

I play mostly AT, so here's my two cents:
What all this talk of team play? What does team play mean? According to some of the Spec Ops lovers here (a fine class I believe), team play = best killer and nothing else. So then what's the difference between team play and just killing a lot? Nothing? IMO, a good example of team play is an AT player firing at a Black Hawk even though he knows he probably won't get a kill out of it, just to chase the BH away. The buzzing lock-on noise alone makes pilots nervous.
Anyways, yes, Spec Ops can take care of a tank quicker assuming he can close the distance safely. I personally like the challenge of having to aim for the tank's weak points to get the 2-shot kill or first-shot assist. Nothing wrong with a challenge, right? Anyone who complains about "noob-tubers" should at least understand this. (Though I don't mind GL Assault types.) I also like the visual effect of a rocket streaking towards my target and blowing it up. It's just fun. And sometimes that range is necessary, for instance when a tank stays outside of your base and just pours fire into it.
The rocket also doubles as a one-shot-kill sniper shot, even if it's very indiscreet. Which is occasionally handy. And I love that DAO-12.
Taking out buggies and jeeps that try to ram you with one shot, then moving on to the tank, then blasting away with the shotgun, all with the same kit, AT is just fun for me. Spec-Ops too, but for now I've been havin' a blast with AT. No enemy is too big or too far away.Comment

It's because I shoot from long distance. Spec ops is for close combat. But I do agree the loading time sucks

Considering you don't even have a 1:1 ratio with ANY of the kits' main weapons, I don't think you're in the position to say which weapons suck.Originally posted by excalibur69geez, i cant believe some of you guys favor the AT over specops. seriously its just plain stupid to play as AT. I play AT 90% of the time, and if you don't believe me go look up "Tysn" in one of those stats websites. I know for a fact that the Anti-Tank kit is a great kit if you know how to use it. Tanks and APCs take no more that 2 rockets if you know where to hit them. And you can't argue that "the m203 can take out jeeps just as good as the rockets", because can an Assault take out a tank/apc? Hell no. The rockets can take out jeeps AND armor, and if your good with it, helicopters. And I'm not just talking about blackhawks, but attack choppers too.
And obviously you're going say c4 is more effective than AT rockets, because all you basically play is Strike at Karkand. In maps like dragon valley/fushe pass, you can't always sneak up on a tank because the range at which it is attacking you is too far away. There isn't always a safe path through the buildings to the back of tank for you to place c4 like in the city maps.Comment

well it looks like i hurt the feelings of a crybaby AT guy. the fact that i dont have a 1:1 kill death ratio with a weapon doesnt mean squat. it just means ive gotten killed with that weapon up. I have a positive kill death ratio and have been playing for 190 hours (vs your big bad 56 hours), so i think i have a pretty good perspective on the classes. And yes, SaK is my most played map, but so it is for most people. Besides, SaK and Sharqi the only class i play is medic. Its the other maps i use spec ops and enginner for, and those classes are much more effective than AT, end of story. I guarantee you if you took a poll of the most worthless class in the game, and the class that people use least, AT would be at the top of that list. Sorry, im not in the mood to take out a fully healthed tank or APC with between 2-4 rockets, only to have the guy drive away or kill me while im reloaded my weapon for 30 seconds, and in terms of taking out jeeps AND tanks that assault cant, all im saying is that there is no 'skill' that the AT guy posses that distinguishes him or sets him apart from other classes. Each class has a unique trait, so to speak, and i just dont see one for the AT guy. Taking out tanks (Spec Ops, Engineer), hitting long range infantry with rockets (sniper), taking out jeeps and buggies (assault), CQC (pretty much every other class is better). Name me one thing that the AT can do that another class cant. I would much use a class that is specialized and efficient at doing a single task, than a 'jack of all trades' so to speak that really isnt exceptional at anything.
And in terms of AT vs Spec Ops, sure the AT can hit tanks from afar, but can AT a) destroy structures? b) destroy enemy commander assets? c) set traps? AS WELL as taking out tanks quickly? The answer is no.Comment

Not so fast. I DO agree that it SUX that it takes 3-4 hits to take out a tank... but it usually takes 1 hit to remove a chopper, jeep, van (or anything smaller than a tank). And they don't have to plant C4 and wait around for the enemy to show up like the SpecOps dude does.Originally posted by excalibur69all the classes serve their purpose with the exception of the AT. I think this has to be the most useless waste of a class i have ever seen. His rocket launcher takes 4 hits to take out a tank, while spec ops can do it much easier. He's slow, and his main gun (MP5 sucks compared to every automatic weapon in the game). Absolutely useless if you ask me
So while everyone has a purpose, the AT does serve well in certain situations. I took out a Blackhawk full of people yesterday. 1 shot / 6 kills. Not a bad ratio. But realistically, it should take 1-2 hits to take out a tank.Comment

True. Special ops is pretty much a waste on big maps. AT is the way to go on pretty much every big map since they're so vehicle heavy. Unless your strategy is to camp a little, wait for an enemy tank and let the c4 go. :p I don't have the patience for that though. :hmm:Originally posted by TysnAnd obviously you're going say c4 is more effective than AT rockets, because all you basically play is Strike at Karkand. i dont know, i have absolutely no problem sneaking up on people in large vehicle maps and c4ing them. Pretty much if you can view them through the rocket scope, you can take a bit of extra time to sneak up on them to get a 'one shot' kill with the c4 vs them putting up smoke and bailing after the first or second rocketComment

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know Time played ment more than how good you actually performed in the game. So I guess whoever wins the contest to see who can waste the most time is suddenly the "expert" on a kit that they have played for 4 hours out of their 190 hour gametime. And the only reason you can say you have a positive ratio is because of you using vehicles as your crutch.Originally posted by excalibur69well it looks like i hurt the feelings of a crybaby AT guy. -If a jeep whizzes past me, I can turn around and blow it up before it gets away.
-If an apc/tank attacks, I can kill it. And I know where to fire so theres no way in hell its gonna take more than 2 rockets.
-If theres a prone sniper firing at me off in the distance, I can take advantage of the fact that the rocket is accurate when moving, so I continually run around while the rocket heads towards him and kills him.
-If an attack chopper is trying to hover to capture a flag I'm currently at, I can scare it away by firing a rocket directly at it. And if possibly kill it if it remains visible for too long when running away.
And if a blackhawk comes circling around the flag, sure I may not be take it out in one shot, but I can do something other kits can't, and thats something. If a blackhawk comes circling around with it's miniguns, what can you do if you're a spec ops? Pitifully fire your gun at it? Same goes for engineer. And saying you can stick c4 on it is way too situational, and heavily depends on the stupidity of the BH pilot. A rocket may not kill a blackhawk, but it can take a good chunck of it's health off, and more importantly, kill passengers.
And I have the DAO-12 unlocked, which is easily one of the best cqc weapons in the game, especially when combined with the fact that the AT has heavy armor. It works fine for large maps if you move in close before attacking.
You can say that the other kit's can do what the Anti-Tank can, but fact is besides planes, there is no type of enemy that the Anti-Tank can't fight. If you're guarding a flag, no matter what tries to come in and cap it, the AT always has a way of fighting back. That's his advantage.Comment

I love playing AT, and when I do play it, I mostly stay lonewolf. It is a hardkit to play, and we do a heck of a lot of work and get zip for it. Reason I stay lonewolf, is most of the squads I play in do the ring around the rosey deal capping flags over and over. My SMG is too weak to be of any benefit, and my rockets are too precious to waste on one enemy soldier. I can camp at a flag and pick off vehicles as they try to steal my team's flags. Am I lonewolf: yes. Am I a team player: yes.
How many times have we redlined a tank just to have the driver bail before it blows and have some other teamate take him out?
How many times have we put the fear of god in the AH raping a point just to have them fly off and get repaired at the helipad? Or have some jet fly by and take our kill?
I can't count the number of times I smoked out an APC sitting by a flag and not even gotten a defend flag point
Argh, the blackhawk...my nemesis. How many times have I unloaded all my rockets trying to save a point, dodging the mini guns of insta-death.... and gotten nothing in return.
It is a "true teamplay" kit, because so many times you get nothing in return as far as points, but when all is done, that flag is still there. True teamplayers play AT.
On the suggestion side:
I feel that AT should get damage points. We get negative points for team vehicle damage, why not postive points for enemy vehicle damage?Comment

well said man. you make a good case for the AT kit being highly team oriented. I never really stopped and thought about the contributions it can make, unsung contributions at that.Originally posted by SaldrinI love playing AT, and when I do play it, I mostly stay lonewolf. you are absolutely right about the credit for enemy vehicle damage. wonder if that can be remedied?Comment

IMO the AT aswell as the spec ops are great units both being capable of the taking out armor. concerning the BH i dont even think about attacking it with an AT just wait 4 it 2 cap the flag then cap it back, or get your booty in a stinger or TOW, and please dont say you cant take down an BH with the spec ops place 2-3 bundles of love around the flag and hit the dirt. i promis you that BH will fly like it has necer done before
:p
