Joe I cannot believe you are still on this. He has a standard clocked CPU ok. How many times do I have to spell it out. The game when running on high settings requires upto 1.5GB of RAM. If you only have 1GB then it is hitting the hard drive which is a lot slower than RAM. This is causing the stuttering at the beginning of a round while it buffers it all into memory. This has been covered many times before on here and if you searched you would see.

You also laugh at the suggestion of more RAM at first and now you're telling him to get more RAM as well. As for his CPU he would not get much benefit from going any higher. Sure he'd gain a few frames but it would be about 5% maximum on most games. It's just not really worth the extra cost and it's definately not required.

People have been overclocking for years Joe and AMD 64's in particular overclock nicely and as long as it's not running too high they are incredibly stable. He hasn't overclocked but there is nothing wrong with doing so if done correctly. And as for what I've got and haven't got. Yeah I haven't got an uber PC but I could go out tomorrow and build myself quite possibly the fastest PC anybody has on here. I just don't agree with spending cash like that when it's not really required. My PC runs BF2 all on high with 4xAA and 16xAF at 1280x1024 and that's all I need. When UT2007 comes out I'll probably upgrade then and buy a dual core CPU, dual core GPU setup.

Oh and Joe you need an extra 512MB or 1GB of RAM not 4GB in total. If you have 4GB, 2GB of it will be pretty much sat there never being used unless you do certain tasks on your PC which require it. Why don't you buy a bigger faster hard drive or better sound card with the money you'll save.

Oh try this.

I know for sure this will work.
Open you computer up, pull that battery on you mobo out for 10 seconds and put it back in and no more clitches, oh and check your plugs to al of your mobo.

erm....how is clearing the CMOS going to help anything?

Of course if you were 'uber leet' you'd have told him to move the jumper next to the CMOS battery from shorting pins 1 and 2 to shorting pins 2 and 3 for 10 seconds then putting it back.

Maybe I could lend some help...I had a AMD2600+standard clock at 2.4ghz i think and 512mb of ram. At start of every single round I would have horrible studder and lag just as explained above. Upgraded only my ram and nothing else and have not only got rid of stutters but am able to achieve decent graphics...I now have a amd 64 2800+ and it is overclocked and runs a stable 40 degrees while playing. I can also run it at stock 1.8ghz and no noticable difference in game play. Dude, get some more ram...I had the same problem and bout a gigstik and now have smooth gameplay. Been there...got the keychain and t-shirt

a AMD 2600+ is not standard at 2.4ghz my bro has one overclocked to 2.3ghz its meant to be run at just under 2ghz as standard.

hmmm...let's beat that dead horse...
It's definitely the ram. I had 1 GB ram with my system and i also had the stuttering. The extra GB fixed it.
