BF42 and BF:V was a nightmare with AA enabled but BF2 is unaffected.

AA only messes up your text in BF2 if you set it from your videodriver, if you set it in the game itself the text is not affected..

The rendering engine could not handle AA or AF. Ive had it at AF2X and bf42 wouldnt look as nice as BF2 does. But BF2 has a new rendering engine that can handle it if you have a good pc.

Will it slow down gameplay? Will it lag more???

YEs, and Yes, but you will be able to tell motion better, as you don't have those jagged lines moving around everywhere.

Edit- you should probably leave it off for best performance w/ that video card. fx5200 is getting a little dated in this time of age.
Uhm that is BS, I'm running the 9800 Pro 128 MB with 4x AA, and 8x AF. BF2 in my eyes isn't a proccess whore like you guys make it to be. Its actually comparatively nothing compared to other games on the market, as well as future upcomming releases. The only thing that makes BF2 slow is the poor coding of their engine (aside from the connectivity which is first class.)

the X800+ and 6800+ series have more then enough power to run their 8x AA, and 16x AF no problem. Heck with BFV they whored the FPS. In my eyes looking at the 9800 ratings on BFV I still get in about the same frame rates only 1 or 2 difference.

Well you need to update your sig then, only two 7800GTX's can run 16xAA. :shoot: :thatsbad: :shakehead :salute: :locked: :hi:  :censored: :ar15:

BF1942 was fine with AA on ATi cards, but all nVidia cards before the 6800 just sucked at it...

Thats utter nonsense. A single 6800 or X800 can run 16x AA and 16x AF if they wanted to.

A single 6800 is more than enough for BF2, and two of those cards in SLi or Crossfire would be way too much for BF2.

Stop making BF2 sound like its a next generation game. Its not.

I've seen some posts here from a while back that say AA won't be noticable unless your resolution is higher than 1024x768. Does anyone know if this is actually the case? (I haven't tried it yet myself, so I don't know for sure)

In 800x600 the edges become blurred in a square-type manner.

You need a PC like mine to run AA at SLI 16X ..Framerates at 1600 x 1200 drop down to 50 or less.... Looks sweet though

I'm sorry but if your saying that you'll need to show me proof you've got them dual 7800 GTx's. Anyone who truely has them doesn't say bullsh*T like that. 6800 can run AA 16x AF 16x without SLI keeping it at the high 40's. Anyone with a 7800 can pull way more.

I'm tired of these newbis who say they got the 7800 GTX but are really bullsh*tting and say stupid ass things that arent true about them. You'd remotely look even a bit smart if you read the reviews and did some research into their benchmarks before you spoke. Maybe you'd sound half ass intelligent instead of a pretender.

actually, AA takes a shitload of video card processing power and is best used when u really don't care about gameplay or have a supercomputer. i have everything turned up high, including AF but AA i leave off because it runs like a cripple.
