Because, there is no need for a 512mb card right now, a 7800GTX 256mb will outperform a 6800 Ultra 512mb, and a X850XTPE will outperform a X800XL 512mb. we'll start having minmum requirements for 512mb cards in about 3 years, which there will be dual core (not dual card) Graphics cards, and cards that will absolutely blow awasy and current card.Originally posted by Gimpyand why do u say no? If you're reffering to a 7800 Nvidia, that's a freakin' waste man. I run a 6800 GT, and I run everything on high 2x anti-aliasing, I can pull off four, but it occasionaly lost fps when 6-7 people were on screen (I can't miss my big n00b t00b kills!)
Also run doom on ultra high just dandy without it dipping below 45-50fps.
Hell if you have good cooling, you can overclock a GT to run at ultra speeds like nothing. And it's hella-cheap player.
EDIT: 512, and gig video cards do exist, they are however used almost exclusively for CAD design, because when you have the ENTIRE blueprint of an ENTIRE skyscraper, sometime you needs that extra little punch... It is a freakin' building after all.Comment

Man, I have the same rig as you do, except 1 gig of ram, and a sapphire card. My fps ranges between 60-22 depending on what I am looking at, however it usually doesnt go higher than 29. Did you do any tweaks?Originally posted by KaltagestaI run a PowerColor 9600 Pro 256mb and have everything on medium, except Textures on High, with no AA and run it fine.
I also have 1.5 gigs of Ram and a 3000+ 64bit Athlon.
All settings on medium, AA, Dynamic light and shadow are off.Comment

Originally posted by ChubzDid you order it online? If so, which did you get? (ATI-built, Powercolor, etc. etc. etc.)
Yeah, ATI built... why it sucks ? I was thinking of the HIS but that would make me get a new case and I like my case.Comment
(30-55fps)
