Does anyone else find this to be a slight miscalculation on EA's part?

Actually, I've shot the real thing. It's like that in real life. If I recall correctly, the round has to spin X number of times for it to arm. So AAO is just modelling real world behavior.

    That's why AAO is cool.

you do take a stamina hit from jumping, but it's almost neglegable. But I really hope they don't turn BF2 into DoD. All that stamina **** ruined it. It's a struggle just to jump out of a foxhole.

You are correct and that would be a good solution to this problem.

The same thing was happening in Forgotten Hope when they introduced rifle grenades. For FH the solution was to implement a 2-3 second delay from when you pull the trigger to when the weapon actually fires.

It completely ended the whoring and forced guys to use it the way it was supposed to be used.

My mind is struggling to figure out what DoD is...but when I say a stamina hit, I mean like 35-40%. That way you can jump a couple of times, but that's it. This would put a pretty big damper on bunny hopping and dolphin diving. I would also lower the regeneration rate of stamina, while reducing the amount of stamina needed to sprint.

It's worse the the AWP in CS, as with an AWP you actually have to aim

Giving the grenade launcher projectiles a timer before it can blow is VERY simple: the function is already in the BF2 editor.

If you're a modder who wants some of that "realism" stuff, or some guy with the BF2Editor, use the "ArmingDelay" function in the projectile portion of the "rurgl_GP30", "rurgl_GP25" or "usrgl_M203" objects. Give it an 0.4 delay and grenades within about 20m will break apart and do no damage.

in cod they stopped the bunny hopping with the second patch.(and im surprise no one has mentioned that yet) if you jump your were slowed and could jump again till you regained stamina.

In real life those grenades need a certain amount of spins before they can explode

Ya something needs to be done about it, but you better get good at it just in case...

Right now if you play a competative match on Karkand if you don't use the nade launcher and hopping you can kiss your ass goodbye.

bunny hoppers have ruined, or attempted to ruin, every game under the sun if they are allowed to. for CoD, we ran a hopper-free server (by virtue of warns, kicks, then bans) even before one of the patches nerfed the bunny ability.

just look for servers that do not allow it. don't get caught up in arguments with them about it in game, they are far too vapid to comprehend where you are coming from.

The weapons simply isn't overpowerd. It's hard to aim with it, it only works good on madium range targets, and mostly on target lying prone, and not in cover.
If someone is far away it's hard to aim at then, plus if they move it is almost impossible. at medium range it is to do, but once again if they take the time to cover and not act like sitting ducks they would not be killed so easly. Close range you can forget it, it will harm you to, killing someone around the corner is impossible without killing yourself, if you still claim it isn't, prove it with a video. And if you miss, the thing has a hell of long time to reload, plus you only have a few grenades.
Finally it's not lame to kill someone with it, it's lame to lay prone with you grim reaper gun (PKM) and then ***** about it if an assult class player kills you. Yes the assult has the stronges( not over powerd) gun, but it needs to. it's job is to kill the enemy, it can't earn points by healing, it can't earn em by supplying, you can't do jack **** about tanks. If you expect to be on equal term with a assult player when it comes to a confontation then your fooling yourself. And the Nade launcher is there mainly for buggy's, and clusters if enemies and thats what it's most effective for. If you play your class good you shouldn't have to worry about it. And it sure as hell isn't as effective at long range as AT, I have seen numerouse people snipe with the AT gun but never with the nade launcher.

But you know what, implement it, increasing the blast radius will only make it more deadly, as far as implementing the distance, do it. I'll even support. But you know what it won't help you jack ****, cause the nade is only effective at medium range, you'll still get killed by assult players, you know why. Cause thats what they are supposed to do.
                        And you will still whine.

I just looked it up and in real life the things won't even arm until roughly 30 meters, so America's Army's distance is right on target.

Wow...it amazes me that the BF2 Bunnyhopper Association has not came in here with fur ablazin!

I have hated bunny hopping since I first started playing FPSs and it began. I am all for the somewhat realism to FPSs but enough "not so realism" to keep the game fun. Yet bunny hoppers has always been a bur in my side. It is getting worse here on BF2 lately as well.
I guess it comes from serving 10 years in the Army and knowing what it is like to hump all the gear and to know that the last thing I am going to be doing is hopping around the area with 75 - 150+ extra pounds on my arse. The first thing is thinking about when I can dump all the stuff on the ground! Then I could probably hop for days!! lol
Just watch the TV footage of the boys in Iraq running....they look like they are ready to fall through the street into the sewers with some of the gear they are weighted down with.

I never said it was overpowered, I just said it is not realistic in the least. I also said I don't have anything against people who use it, just the Devs that were dumb enough to write the code making it possible to do at all. I mean they took the time to make the difference between a Blackhawk chopper and a Chinese transport chopper "realistic" but they can't make the 203 grenade not blow up until it is past 30 yards?

I think 30 yards ix extreme, given the splash range. Scaled to the game, I think 5 would be more like it.
