Congrats to eXp.ElekTriC for making Gunnery Sergeant!!
God, what a hateful thread this has turned out to be. Just like I told Slosh in another thread:

The forums at this site, in case you did not notice, are rife with angry, cynical and tempermental people. You can say the most innocuous thing and someone will flame you for it. Such is the life of a highly competitive and testosterone filled game. People have to prove that they are as much of a badass in the game, as they are on the boards.
Yep you could sum up every gaming message board with over 1000 members that way. any thread especially to say "well done" to someone i thought had a chance, but predicted it none the less right back on page 1

[QUOTE=Teaves]THE GUY DOSENT WORK!!! (12% lol) he has a paper round 3 days a week! how difficult is that concept to grasp??? how many hours a day do you work? 8? 9? 10? how many days a week? 5? 6? 7? AND do you by any chance sit at a computer during those hours? is that sad? (wait for the "well i get payed for it" argument, well lots of people get payed a lot more for not sitting at a pc!)
Oh boy oh boy someone quoted me. Now I can personally reply back.
First of all lad, you are right, the guy don't work, and the fact he is jobless isn't very hard to grasp. *grasps the concept*. Now that we have that concept grasped, lets move on shall we? 8 1/2 hours a day, 5 days a week is the average workers time, so yes, I will tell you, that is how much I work. *gives the grasped work hours to Teaves* .. Ok, now we are really grasping everything at a fast pace but lets keep moving shall we? ok... What do I do? I wish I could sit on a computer but no, my job consists of toating around big loads of boxes all day so your mommy can go grocery shopping and bring you home twinkies for you to chew on. Yes that is right, we are grasping what I do.. I am a backup grocery manager! *GRASPED*.
Now, mate, let me try to make you understand something. Congradulating a person with 36% of life spent on BF2 is something to flame. Got it? Good. I must say I am right where I said someone was going to flame me, you win the prize of Flamer of the Day award.
Now seriously though, let me make something clear to you. I have about 45 hours in Battlefield 2, I admit it. And why do I have such time on it? Because of the fact I was on vacation for 2 weeks, and my girlfriend was out in Lake Placid so I was home by my lonesome and had nothing to do. Gas prices have reached 2.66 so going for an afternoon cruise just wasn't worth it to me..and, at such prizes, going upto the lake to drive my boat around (Gas Tank Full = $140) was also..not worth it to me. So yes, I will tell you I have 10,000 points in BF2 but if I get to Gunnery Sergeant .. it won't be till 2006. I can bet you money on that and still play on my normal 2-3 hours a day basis.
So..toodles to you and maybe someday you will actually grow up and start acting your age, not your shoe size.
So far these are the haters in the thread, some much worse then others, i wonder how many of them can even breath from the irony of posting that someone is sad for playing too much on a BF2 message board with over QUARTER OF A MILLION! posts
Hold on there, Sparky. Before you go throwing around my good name, I defy you to quote anything I have stated that could possibly be construed as hateful. Furthermore, I challenge you to find any post of mine saying anything condescending about ElekTriC and how he spends his free time.
You, sir, owe me a public apology. Are you man enough to give it? Time will tell.
yessir teaves, 115 hours played since the game came out like what, 65 days ago?
81 hours as mec; i prefer MEC weapons over the US ones; and hence always try to play as mec when i can. how is this being unfair or selfsih; both sides are meant to be even, fool.
total aviator and armour hours is around 50; only half of my total play time. why do you point these out; there is nothing unusual about my armour/air stats at all. wtf?
medic, once again, i am a medic specialist. highlighting the fact that i play mainly medic class does nothing but prove your idiocy and general malice.
stick to ass kissing mate; at least you seem to have some decent experience in that. :)
I'm happy for him and all the others with high scores, but this "high score chase" is what is killing the game for many people.
Played with him in squad last night (never saw him on that server before). Spawned on him, was sitting in APC for a while (he gave no squad orders, squad members were spread around the map) while he was driving around and shooting. Left the squad few minutes later, and joined 3-man squad that was actually playing the game.
Congratulations to him and all the people who have high scores, but I'll rather play 1 game with good squad leader and squad mates (some of the best squad leaders I've ever played with have scores in range of 8,000-17,000), than 10 games with high-score guys.
But then again, I'm only into playing for fun, so... :)
The only reason he is at the top is because he has put in the time. It doesn't mean he is the best player out there. If you look at the leaderboard DiZoi and AngryViper are the 2 best players based on time in the game. I'm not dissing the guy but if you want to respect someone do it for their skill not for their amount of free time.
I've only been playing 140hrs and have 25000 so I'm not a million miles behind elektric myself when it comes to skill level if you work it out. Also attacking people for no social life etc is not very nice or fair. I run my own business from home. I work about 2 hours a day and earn a decent wage. That leaves me the rest of the day to play if I want and then go out at night. Just because someone has a lot of free time doesn't mean they have no friends. It might mean they are rich and don't have to work.:p
I must say I could never achieve it, simply don't have that kind of time.
To be fair it is an achievement, not something I personally would aspire to but never-the-less an achievement in itself. Although medically I would suggest that he take a weeks holiday away from screens, playing that much can really damage your eyes, not to mention some evil Repetitive Strain Injury.
I've never seen him play, but maybe its because I dont play 15 hours a day, just one or two because I have a LIFE. Congratulating someone on an achievement in an online game might just be the most ridiculous thing I've seen. If you want to get far in life, take my advice, and don't play 10 hours of bf2 every day.
