If you get a bad gunner, do some crazy stunts. Do some loops in the air, fly upside down for a bit. More often than not, the gunner will crap his pants and jump out in fear of his life.
Then just go back and grab another, and hope the next one's better,

LOFL good tactic, cept i seem to get the pilots that do this anyway .. ie: cant fly!!!, an inflight sickbag would be more useful lololol
Dont get me missing targets with the cannon if the pilot is steady
If I get a good, steady pilot, I'm one of the best gunners you'll ever get. I can wreak total havoc with the TV missiles, including air-to-air combat. Usually if I miss with TV, it's because the pilot suddenly moved due to missile lock or something like that. I've had it go through open blackhawk doors a few times.
This one pilot I was with a few nights ago hardly ever fired a missile. He did at first, but after a while, he just kicked back and capped flags, making sure to line me up with the ground assets. It was awesome. Unfortunately, finding a good chopper pilot is like finding a needle in a hayfield
I hope this doesn't come off as complaining but many times I find myself piloting an attack helicopter in Battlefield 2 with a gunner on board and I tend to spot enemy units on the ground before my gunner does... I can fly right up to an enemy infantry unit, hovering ten feet away and my gunner will just sit there and do nothing. Usually in these circumstances I will fire off a missile or two at the infantryman in an attempt to either kill him or bring awareness of his position to my gunner. If in doubt as a gunner, check your map for friendlies and if none are in the area of suspected hostility, fire away at ever possible hiding spot. If in your random spirts, you get an X in your crosshair, you know there's an enemy in that area. I know this all sounds like obvious info but more often than not I find gunners to be too reluctant to pull the trigger on their machine gun. Another tactic that I find to be invaluable as a gunner is to immediately press the C key to change your view to get rid of the cockpit and open your visual to encompass a larger area. Note that you have to press the C key to reset this view after each firing of the TV guided missiles, for after firing these missiles, the gunner's view goes back to the default in-cockpit view.
So if you take anything away from this post, I hope that it is to eat lots of carrots and improve your eyesight!!!!!!!!!
I agree 100%
Something I think that the gunner haven't 100 view distance in his/her BF configuracion.
if any gunners want to fly sometime with me, hit me up on xfire, my SN is Kildor.
I fly alot of the time and am damn good at it, I keep it steady so we can get those TVs off and hover the right height to take out infy quite nicely. of course, you'd have to join my squad and use a mic, otherwise, it's pointless.
but I 100% agree with the OP, alot of ppl seem to jump into a chopper thinking they'll reap points off YOUR skillz, when really, they won't get that much if they don't contribute.

Duely noted for the record. i hope not to dissapoint
when i'm a gunner in a blachawk or an helio,i'll try to kill asmany bad guys as I can and if i've flown with any of you guys and I missed some bad guys, i'm sorry , but i'm usaully a gunner cause I'm really bad at flying. but i reakon i'm a good gunner
my GF plays a bit of BF2... and I've been trying to get her to be a good gunner.. I can tell she's looking to the left because of where the HUD shows me the gunner is looking.. and so I say... INFY TO YOUR RIGHT... and she just can't get it.. INFY RIGHT IN FRONT OF US... WHERE?!!? RIGHT IN FRONT OF US.. I CAN"T TELL WHERE THE FRONT IS>... sheesh.. jsut get out. I -will- say though, she's a farking CRACK SHOT with the TV missile.. who'd have thunk it.. LOL
holy crap tell me about it, im usually a gunner however 9/10 times i get newbs trying to fly & crashing into everything. Its worst when another chopper engages us and they run away instead of lining it up & going higher than them, arghhh.
Frustrating as hell trying to find a decent chopper pilot, found about three last night out of about nearly 30 people and when you get a good one you can rack up the kills/scores EASILY!
If there are any good pilots on here what servers do you use? Im getting tired of spending ages finding good ones. My ingame names the same as the one on here.
Got Xfire? I'll gun for you: tehpwnerofnoobs . Usually my prob is the opposite. I don't like flying but I get a moron pilot who never gives me shots and is spinning around too erratically to even come close with the cannon (mostly on the Cobra, the Mi28 cannon rox)
Edit: Lol @ that about girls. I'm taking psychology and they learn how to pwn FAST.
