Re: Ambush at Mashtuur City, (A Serious Must Watch)

This is the best made movie out there so far. One thing that I suggest is to run the game on a better computer, to get rid of some of the aliasing. This is the thing that irks me the most out of all the BF movies is those jaggies.

I also think that doing it in widescreen would be great also. And have it at the highest resolution possible, so whatever the resolutin of DVD's, or even HD-DVD's are.

you need the xvid codec here http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/ .. install that and then play the video again..

Checked them both out, Ambush for the win!!

I liked your use of the slo mo in that, especially with the camera panning the tall grass as the soldiers ran through it. Created a cool mood. The interleaving of views of the Mosque in the opening was nice. And the way you finished it, with that 'jostled camera' view of the heli flying away.

                      All good elements,...make more soon!!

And yeah,..get rid of the names. ^^

                        whoa now.

If he's gonna release it in high resolutions, such as dvd (720x480, which is what that video used, just incorrectly), he might as well make mpeg2 encodes. As for the widescreen, I already suggested that pages ago, 2.35:1 all the way foo!!!

I don't think it'd be necessary to make a HD copy...I mean really.

By incorrectly, I mean that only dvd footage with the NTSC standard should be using 720x480, cause when played on dvd playing software, it's automatically resized and adjusted correctly when it's aspect ratio flag is recognized.

For instance when an anamorphic widescreen video is played, it starts out at 720x480. Once the player recognizes it's aspect ratio, which is 16:9, it's automatically stretched out to 864x480.

When you encode something to xvid/divx for online distrobution, you don't have the luxury of things automatically being resized, so you have to do it manually. Since your video was fullscreen, 4:3, instead of being 720x480, it should of been 640x480 or anything else within the AR's specifications (512x384 and 480x352 are some popular alternatives).

For deeper insight check out some of the info and tutorials here:

I've thought about it. Maybe I should set up a paypal account for donations for a 7800GT for ya.

I know you suggested it pages ago, I was just agreeing with you. Should have quoted you though.

I for one wouldn't mind if he encoded it straight to mpeg2.
