    Dying deserves -1 points

The current point system rewards those who charge into combat and kill (thus die) as quickly as possible. Each death takes away one ticket from their team. It is only fair that a player that gets killed (TK excluded) is charged a negative point for that death. Maybe if being killed had a penalty you might actually see some more strategy and flanking rather than bunny hop charges with the M203.

being killed does have a penalty... 1 ticket loss for the team, and a death in your stats, do you think that people want a death?

I don't understand why there should be an added penalty.

Bad idea. I would quickly hang up BF2 if I would get punished for being spawn raped 5 times in a row.

um, who in their right mind would make it -1 if you die? Its BATTLEFIELD, you die all the time, do you want to make it into some sort of hide-in-the-base battle?

It shouldn't take away -1 points overall, just from your Kills.

If you Die, you lose one kill. But! It should never dip below Zero.

With this small change, people would be more inclinded to devote their abbilities to tactics that involved staying alive after commiting an action (Cause the suicide C4 is DAMN annoying...)

Umm, I am going to have to go with NO on this one. I think I understand the point you are trying to make, I just don't agree with it. It's bad enough for some players who have a .7 KDR, now everytime they die they get another minus point? people would be hiding in corners all the time, BF2 is an action game, not AA.

and for the suicide c4 thing, if they die without you killing him (when the screen says "username is no more") then he gets -2 teamwork.

and yeah, why would -1 from kills not effect overall score? and if it didn't then there would still be enough people who don't care about their KTDR enough to stop.

This could be the next BF2 expansion. We could call it 'Hide and Camp'. No thanks, charging is the only way to do it sometimes.

No, people don't want to have any more deaths in their stats than needed. But within a game, most are focused on getting points and killing as quickly as possible. If they were primarily concerned with their team winning, you would not see 31 out of 32 marines spawn on the frontlines in Karkland when a flanking spawn point is available. Even with a -1 penalty for dying, the game would still favor risk taking with a +2 score for a kill. Anyone who dies twice on average for every kill really is not doing their team a favor. Zero points is entirely appropriate for them.

Actually, to keep the point system intact, it would probably require +4 for a kill and -2 for dying. So those who have a 1:1 K ratio would not see a net change in points. Those who have a 1:2 K ratio would see no points. Those who kill without dying would see double the points. Incidentally, this would make the sniper class worth playing even when you are not the commander and need claymores to prevent someone from knifing you while in map mode.

Conversation if this change took place

soldier 1: he look at that tank, hes not look at this direction, should plant a C4 on it
soldier 2: good idea, you go, i dont want to die you know
soldier 1: I dont want to die either, the risk outweights the potential benifit
                            result: both dead.

I too think this is a bad idea. The loss of a ticket and the increase in the death column is punishment enough. It's not like people want to die.

What about those that die while taking out an enemy tank...do they deserve a negative point, I think not.
