Poll: Should Support Weapons be improved?

Support. I think everyone can agree that the basic support weapon and even the upgrade offer pretty awful accuracy even when prone. And because of this you can pour fire into your target and you may never hit him. Firing in short bursts will give better accuarcy but when prone everyone expects more from these weapons and they simply don't do their job.

    1. More accuracy when prone. - Nothing changes besides accuracy when prone. Gun would be able to fire longer with greater accuracy.

    2. More Damage - Nothing changes besides damage. Gun still has terrible accuracy, but each hit mabye a 1 hit kill.

    3. 2.5 sec to prone, 90 deg arc of fire, near perfect accuracy -
This option would make getting prone with the support weapon take a few moments, but once in that position he was liimited to the 90 deg arc directly in front of him but had near perfect accuracy. If he/she moved it would take 2.5 seconds to reset the gun at the new position.

I think the support weaps are fine...except the Chinese MG, it goes through ammo too fast.

It's rediculous how wide the spread is, even when prone. It's an ineffective weapon in combat and everyone knows it.

More accuracy when prone and a delay on this accuracy kicking in to stop dolphin diving.

The way the things are at the moment they are just stupid as full auto or burst the shots just come out far too randomly. They still have their uses from time to time but they do need to be a little better.

yeah the support weapons fine although i guess it would be good if when u go prone you have to take out your bipod like in AA which means you have a 90 degree angle to shoot but until you take up the bipod your stuck in that position but at the same time the position gives a lot more accuracy.

I'd say they should a be a bit more accurate when prone, especially at longer ranges. Nothing too drastic, but just a little more accuracy, the damage and ROF are fine, IMO.

              EDIT:

                Weapons are not precise. True.

It all depends on why you play support.

When I play support I'm a member of a squad (usually 5-6 people). When squad forwards, I try to cover them with fire. And in majority of cases, they can position themselves to take out enemies in range, while I am suppresing those enemies. Even if I don't do many kills that way, I still help my squad/team.

On bigger (non-urban) maps, playing support is tough, since you don't get to make many kills, but you do resupply your mates with precise weapons, so they can take out the enemies more effectively.

Often, when I see an enemy (and my mates don't), I go prone and start shooting at that "general direction" (sometimes I hit, mostly I don't). What happens is that noise coming from support weapon attracts attention of your teammates, and they quickly go to that position and take enemies out (and they can CLEARLY see where you are shooting :)). While I press 'Q' and spot the enemy (if I had luck to zoom on him and see red mark above his head) - I might as well get shot by that same guy. So I prefer to make noise

And "Well done mate" from squad mates is much much much more appreciated than any points that could show up on my stats.

I think support weapons are ok as they are now.

Then again, I play for fun, not for rank/points, so I am biased

It would be awesome if the support weapons and sniper rifles worked like the America's Army weapons: Having to be prone to deploy the bipod and then having 1/4 your turning radius. This being said, the support class would then become a problem, seeing as how 100's of bullets + high rate of fire + great accuracy + resupply ability = ..well you can do the math.. I think they're filed down a bit due to balancing issues.

I dunno.. get a bit irritated then I'm standing (not using iron sights either), and shooting on full auto at someone 10 meters away and nothing hits. Sometimes I find I actually have to go prone+sights to get some decent results, even if the guy is 10 meters or so. This is with the PKM.

I can pick off a guy at 100m with a PKM. Must be really inaccurate!

With the SAW, I can pick off snipers at 200m+.

They aren't inaccurate, you just have to know how to aim. Hell, I just went 45 kills and 8 deaths in Karkand with nothing but the PKM.

Yah, ir really sucks. U know sth?? I would like the support class to be like in COD UO, where they can't shot the machine gun when moving but then when the weapon is placed on the ground, a window, etc. it is powerful. Don't know mucho about weapons but the machine gun in COD looks great and powerful, on the other hand, the one we have in BF2 looks like a toy and behaves like that.

In CQC, the Support guns are God. All of them. I agree with the other poster saying it is an aiming issue. Learn how to aim them better and also, don't button mash to the point where all you are doing is firing and taking fire being prone in one spot.

If you have a clear shot, by all means prone and fire away, but if you have a target that you know may show you up with accuracy over power, you best move and try and get in closer and then open up a can o whoop ass on him.

Last night alone I took a SAW to the first flagpoint on Karkland and cleared 4 enemy at the flag all firing on me. I dropped all 4 before someone came up behind me and fired away killing me. I love Support now and this is coming from Anti Tank and using a DAO-12 all this time.

the 2.5 second thing is the worst idea ever. you'd be dead before you can get a shot off. they need to be more accurate. like i've said before, these guns should make the enemy go for cover.

several times i've come across a enemy who was standing, i go prone and start shooting at him with my machine gun. he just stands there and continues to shoot at me, 95% of the time he kills me. thats just wrong.

if they are standing still the damn gun should cut them in half.
