anyone with 128MB video card memory run well?

Well I have a 9800 pro 128mb and it runs it all right. I get 15-40fps with stutter a little bit. More when in a big fight or just around alot of action and I can't play on the 64 player servers. If I go on one of them I am done. I run everything on med and res is 1024x768. Also I got my veiwing set to 100%.

I just wish I new what to tweak. I see all these guides and scared to try something. If I fry my PC I wont get another one for a while. I poor man!

How do u know if ur system is set up right? I know some about computers but not enough. Diffently not messing with the over clocking thing and fry my pc. And will run these game like they are supposed to run.

some of u think that a increase in video memory increases fps, but it doesn't. Video memory only increases the rate at which textures can be displayed. a 6800gt 128 and a 6800gt 256 will probably show little to no fps increase between the two. But it will show some graphical changes with the video memory upgrade.

P.S.- the current 512mb graphics cards have been proven to show no increase over the 256 verison in gamplay whatsoever, this shows that video memory is less important than u think

128mb GF6600GT AGP, Athlon 64 3200+ and 2gigs Corsair ram running in dual channel... 1024x768@100hz. All settings on medium, except shadows = off, 2xaa . The game is smooth all the time, with 50-100 FPS on 64 player servers... I could put some settings up but quite happy with the total smoothness and how it looks.

There's something wrong with your set up if you're only getting 30-40 fps.

Throwing more money at your PC is taking a hammer to crack a nut. The only performace increase you're likely to see with a 256mb is textures on high, and tbh there's hardly a difference between high and medium. However if your PC is not running sweetly, then you will not get the full benefit of the card.

Have you tried Driver Cleaner and reinstalled the Nvidia drivers?

Once you've changed, and applied your in game graphics settings, have you closed the game, explored \My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache folder and deleted the "{D7B71E3E-43B1xxxx" folder(s) before restarting the game?

Wow I don't know what is wrong with your computer. I have a Dell 3 GHz 1 gig ram 9800 pro, and I run everything on high except no AA or dynamic light/shadows.

If you want I can provide proof. Not only that but I have 40+ fps constantly.

Presumably you've all the latest drivers for your mobo, soundcard etc? An up to date BIOS? BIOS settings all optimized? Experimented with BIOS AGP aperture (Mine's set to 256mb)?

Presumably you've tried defragging your hard disk?

Even try pressing ctl-alt-del whilst in game, right click on the BF2 process and increase the CPU priority.

If you've done all of the above (and anything else I've forgotten), then maybe consider as a *last resort*; reformatting, reinstalling windows and then installing the game. Several people with problems have stated on this and various other forums that this significantly improved their game performance.

As I've already stated, if you have a Geforce 6x00GT 128, 1gb+ RAM and an Athlon 64 3200+, you should be getting frames over 40 and hitting 100 on occasion. If not, there's a problem with your PC config'. Buying a new card is a solution, but it's not the best.

i wanted to run medium textures but i put them on low after my 6600GT started bogging down. i should prob go for a new MB since mine is old. even though i have 1.5GB ram its not dual channel or anything. upgraded the SB Live to an audigy that helped alot and high sound qual rules, but if i upgrade the MB i will of course have to get a cpu... ram that will run dual channel... which means i will have rebuilt my entire pc just to run BF2. plus i am too lazy to reinstall windows and get all my programs set up again. still, newegg calls to me.... "you can do it!"

Running all settings on medium, no AA or ANSI filtering.
64 bots no worries.

Can run it on high but performance gets a bit iffy.

i have 3 comps that have this setup.. they all run the same. its not the setup.. its just some bottleneck. some people probably see 45FPS and are pleased with it.. im not.
