yeah i won't be unlocking it for along while afterall at the end of the day a shotgun ingame is only of any use close up with single shots (which will kill) so i can't see the benefit of the jackhammer.

totally disagree... have one unlock myself, and chose the Jackhammer. At the time I was playing SF/Assault mostly, but knew that our clan could use a couple good engys for pub play in squads.

I love the gun, my kill streak of 24 was achieved using it strictly as infantry on Mashtur City. I can roll up in a jeep, see 2 enemies, and feel confident that I can jump out and put 2-3 rounds in each and walk away from the fight.

Up close, yes, 1 shot will do it. In a normal fight it usually takes 2-3 rounds to do someone in. Learn to use the pistol, including the iron sights, and rely on that as your backup weapon....then either use the pistol, or flank/manuver, to get to enemies at a distance. I've gotten plenty of kills with the pistol at range, and hold onto the JackHammer for CQC.

Depending on the map there are times when being engy and having a shottie just doesn't do it...but thats what the other classes are for...if the map dictates it, I'll break out the Jackhammer and be quite happy with its results.

The engie should get a gold-plated deagle. might be unrealistic, but I'm sure that more people would start playing as engineer.

Sometimes it can own, sometimes it doesn't.... The best thing to do is try to flank your enemies then come up from behind where they are not expecting you.

The gun owns! I am an AT user and since I have more practice with the DAO-12, the Jackhammer comes off easy to use. While the DAO-12 has more shells, it takes more shots to take out someone. With the Jackhammer in CQC, it takes less shots than the DAO-12.

Players tend to forget that this is a close quarter combat weapon. It will rule on city maps and if you are in a wide open map, you have to be selective on where to battle someone so that it is to your advantage.

The ones I tend to see say this weapon sucks is from someone that prefers the rifle and medium to long range fire over very up close fire. Also when I am in the field, I tend to see someone attempt to fire at me with the Jackhammer at medium range, meanwhile, I will return fire with the DAO-12 and win the fight since I have more shells and now will have the up close advantage while the opponent either reloads or pulls out his sidearm.

Practice with the weapon and pretend you never fired a medium to long range weapon in the game before and have to make this one weapon work for you somehow and you will be fine with it in time.

Jackhammer is the exact same thing as Saiga12. Both do same damage, both shoot fast, and both have same magazine size. So Jackhammer is good if you are not playing on China or US.

I would prefer to have the rifle from bf42 than the crappy shotguns

You just need to learn and know it's limitations and work around it.
Before I unlocked it, I tried it a few times. It takes time to get used to it.
Ask the 400+ people I've killed with it since I unlocked it =)

It's great for the city maps and close range stuff. Head to Head it wins
most of the time. Most people don't even get a chance to shoot.
Grenades are you friend, when you run into a squad or someone is out of range.
I'm trying to get myself to stop shooting after the second shot.
I know they are dead, but it's so much fun to empty the gun into them.

i appreciate hearing from some more experienced people about the hammer. i'm primarily a tanker (plus helo whenever i see it available) so i'm not so hot at 1v1 cqc. i agree that its possible to kill 3 people with one clip if you stumble upon them at point blank.

still, i think what my 1st post said is still valid - a) it's not that much better then the standard pump-action shotty b) it's power is only really great in certain sitations, and c) the engy isn't that great of a fighter anyway. unless you play like crazy or just play solely engy, you probably would be better off using your hard-earned unlocks on more useful weapons. the engy is a very diverse class, but fighting 1v1 is not one of his strongest points. upping the engy's gun is like giving the sniper a better knife - yeah its useful in some sitations, but if you're relying on it a lot you probably should reconsider your play style and class selection.

people like The_Misfit say "oh yeah I can roll up to 2-3 enemies, jump out, waste them with the jackhammer, then go on my way..." and "just flank/manerver with it". two points i would like to make about this: a) he's probably better then most people if he's capable of pulling this off regularly, so whether he used the hammer or something better probably wouldn't make a differnce. b) refering to my 1st post: "if you're in a situation where you can get a solid kill with a jackhammer, you probably could have just used your knife." if you've already flanked them, does it really matter that you have the jackhammer? you could kill them with the pistol at that point

If you find yourself in the thick of the action most of the time then this is the weapon to have.

Despite all the negative ranting over it, i unlocked it for my second. I think in close combat circumstances it kicks butt and lots of fun when you happen to catch a squad leader just as his team spawned on him....., the crazy auto thing gets some getting used to tho.I find myself more often than not running out of ammo, but if i havent killed atleast 2 ppl by the time my magazines finished i deserve to die lmao.

Well, If DICE did some research on their prescious unlocks, they would have realized that in real life, the Jackhammer has a ten round drum magizine, not seven. and there are thoughts that the drum could be laid down as an anti-personell mine that fires all ten rounds.

I bet if the gun were made like it should be (with 10 rounds) many more people would use it and it wouldnt be so shitty.

I unlocked it as my first weapon, and I like it. But I'd rather have the Cobray Street-Sweeper (the real name for the fake dao-12)
